    Greetings,

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I have a new 2010 TRD Sport that I got the end of April. It has about 7,000 miles. Over this weekend I noticed that the drivers seat is showing wear. By that I mean that the material in the center of the seat is starting to shred.

I baby my vehicles and am really surprised that this is happening. This is actually my third Tacoma. I had a 1998 with 160,000 miles, a 2006 with 60,000 miles and the seats showed absolutley no signs of wear when I sold the vehicles. I also drive/use them the exact same way. I plan on taking it back to the dealer this evening and can't wait to hear what they telll me.

In all honesty, I really don't know if I would by another (fourth) Tacoma. The quality has really slipped and I am not all that impressed with my new one. The best was the 1998, the 2006 was OK but had some issues. If the seats on my new one go after only six months, I wonder about the rest of the car.

    Thanks,

    cbreeze

They better not tell me it is just an appearance issue. I am not over weight and do not wear pants made of sand paper. Once again, the Toyota quality has really suffered and at one time I bragged about Toyota quality. No more. I simply did not pay $29,000.00 and change to have the seats start to show wear at 7 months.

My 2010 drivers seat squeaks, and pop in the back rest part when you get in and out.

My 2011 ones are no better. Already a thread came "loose" on the passenger seat, and the drivers is showing wear (5400 miles)

    I am getting seat covers.

They just don't build them the same way anymore. Cheaper and faster down the production line!

I put seat covers on mine right away. Cloth seats in every vehicle I've ever owned look like shit pretty quickly without seat covers. I wear cargo shorts a lot with velcro on the back pockets instead of buttons and that tears up seats.

    Does Plasti-Dip count as a mod ?
I have back and neck problems, like a lot of folks do. The seat does cause a little discomfort in my lower back. I'm usually paying attention to how I'm sitting and adjust the seat as needed.
I'll give it some time, as I've only had the truck for a few days. If I can't get perfectly comfortable, then I'll look into alternatives like cushions, pads and such.
Other than that, I'm lovin' my truck !

Gee that's a shame... but quality is better on my 2010 than on the last one 2005... on par with my first Tacoma (2001)... You did say Sport? I always have the Off Road TRD. When I thought the new front seat was painful after awhile, I learned I had a lumbar adjustment on it now, and it was not adjusted... My last two did not have the lumbar support. See I didn't read the entire owner's manual!

I advice everyone to get the Off Road Tacoma... so don't give up on Toyota because the Sport has bad seats, give up on the Sport TRD if you must.

    Greetings,

Just wanted to update this thread.

I went to the dealer tonight and told them about the wear on the drivers seat. The service manager took a look at the seat and told me that he would order me another one. That was a pleasant surprise. I guess I will order seat covers and am kicking myself for missing the recent group buy. I don't think I will wait for the next one though.

How did you get leather seats from the factory?

BTW: my seats are doing great. Except for all of the grease stains on them (truck grease).
