My bad, I'm multitasking on two forums, was talking about installing OME 887s. It's early lol. I retract my statement of alignment cam nonsense.:help:

This is the Cerakote version, looks like you have one of the older versions that rust out very quick.

Correct, I installed mine around three years ago and love them. I plan on finding a reason to order the new and improved ones :spending:

He will give you a new set of the newest version if the one's you have are rusting. All you do is buy the new one's swap em out. Send the rusty one's back and you get a full refund for the new Ball Joints.

Oh right on all good. Haha
I was seriously wondering if there was something else I had to do with the LCA being loosened after your comment.

Like I said before there was more metal in the way than the wheel well/fender when I did my arms. We had the bolt past that point a few minutes in to the install, but it still took us hours. I think slight variations in the body mounts and UCA mount/angle can make the bolt run in to the metal under the battery tray making it a pita. I'll try to take pictures of the other parts we had to punch in. I've done the majority of repairs and maintenance on all my vehicles, and I was working with my fabricating buddy who has done multiple roll cages. We weren't inept and there was certainly not a lack of tools.

Well shit. Now I might just buy that extra set of bolts to have on hand. Worst case they'll make some expensive paper weights. Lol

Love my JBA's I think they stand out nicely with the blue Kings. Rust-Oleum Professional Red is a perfect color match if you want to touch them up. I have a few times while still on the vehicle.

Yep, to be clear, I don't think any of us are saying it was easy and the bolts just slid out. Back to my original comment, the bolts are a pain to get out. However, at no time in doing these have I ever considered cutting the bolt off, it's not THAT hard, even if it was a $1.50 bolt I wouldn't consider it. The driver side is definitely the harder side, but once I unbolted the module thing that's mounted under the battery it wasn't too much worse than the passenger side. I've done these on 2nd gens, 3rd gens, and even 5th gen runners. They all are very similar with the 4Runner being the easiest, but the 2nd and 3rd gen are about the same.

You can drive it as long as you want without alignment, but youre scrubbing rubber off your tires unevenly as well as putting extra stress on your wheel bearings and suspension bushings. Its your money, you decide how to spend it.

When it's time to torque the bolt holding the UCA on do I just hand tighten the nut and then jack up under the LCA then torque?
