Woke up. Had my morning coffee. Read a great joke about the state of the California economy. Took the taco and my beautiful wife to the river and went kayaking... In January.... In North Carolina! Caught a 10 pound striper for my efforts. Two beer job. 20200111_124045.jpg 20200111_124110.jpg 20200111_124132.jpg

I made some mounts to attach my shovel and ax to my bed's rail.
    Started out with some 1 3/8" X 1/16" flat stock. Cut to 9". Bent at 3" and 2 1/4"
    20200111_164137.jpg20200111_111758.jpg

I decided to "paint" the metal with Bondo Rubberized Undercoating. Pretty messy. Took a long time to dry, even though Maine was warm today at 55F. I think I would use a flat black spray paint if I did it again.
    20200111_160617.jpg 20200111_160907.jpg

Attached two on the driver's side, and 2 on the passenger's side. Put shovel and ax on.
    20200111_160118.jpg 20200111_161324.jpg

They seem to be attached securely. I thought the 1/16" stock might be flimsy. I don't believe they will bounce around at all.

Now I need to figure out a better way to secure the Plano box. Looks a little cheesy to me:rolleyes:

    Hey All,

I just picked up my 2020 long-bed today. This thing is so much better than my 2012 its unbelievable. The ride, quietness, functionality, everything is much better. Toyota IMO really stepped up their game. Looking forward to getting it out in the snow this season and some nice road trips this year.

Nice job on the mounts.:thumbsup:

I have the same box. Thought about mounting mine to the bed panel behind the cab like yours is positioned now but want it to be easily removable for when I use my kayak.

Decided on two rivet nuts in that panel situated below where the hinge on the box would be. Corresponding holes in the Plano and two knobs with threaded studs, same diameter and pitch (obviously) as the rivet nuts. Rubber washers on both sides and a couple of nylon spacers just long enough to allow the lid to open.

Plan B if my tri-fold interferes with the lid opening is to do something similar only with the Plano pulled away from the cab and mounted through the bottom and to the deck.

On my mod list so I haven't worked the bugs out yet just a little thinking out loud. :jerkoff:

I think I should have gotten a box with a hinge. But, the OEM tonneau cover would make it hard to open, regardless.

To be honest I hadn't planned on buying any box, I just happened to see them while at Cabelas and the sale price was unbelievably cheap!
Couldn't pass it up for $20.
