    Hey guys,

    I got a suspension shop to adjust the preload on my fox 2.5 coilovers so that the front height matched the rear. Turned out they adjusted it a lot more than I thought was needed and the UCAs look pretty maxed out and, and I'm concerned about how much travel I have, or whether or not this is too straining on the UCAs.     The cv angle looks a little extreme, why do you need so much preload?

    Like I said, I wanted to match the height of the rear, not realizing it would be so extreme. I really needed to raise the rear height because I have the extended length 2.5 RR shocks, and the shafts were really close to bottoming out. Ended up putting the AAL on the Dakar medium pack to turn it into a HD pack.

    I would suggest getting new longer/stiffer springs on those coilovers then

    Looks like full droop.

    Jack it up and measure how much more droop there is. Just take the hub to fender measurement at ride height, and then again after the tire is off the ground. You want a few inches minimum.

    So the fox 2.5s come with 14" I think 650lb springs and I changed them to 14" 700lb springs. Will a longer spring fit? I don't think I'd want to go for a heavier spring rate cause I'd be afraid of too stiff of a ride.

    Pretty sure 700 is the most you can go, but I think they make a 15 inch 700 and 650.

    I'll probably get them lowered a hair and take @Squeaky Penguin s advice and test droop and see what kind of travel range I get, because I agree the CV angle is concerning. I've had them like this for about 15000 miles or so at this point and it hasn't been a huge issue, but I'm sure it's causing some ride instability because my ride is definitely pretty rough.

    Can anyone speak to whether or not this is a bad thing for the joints on the UCAs though?

    How could I check that? Also if it is, is that bad?

    Rough ride is 100% due to the preload. The stock foxes are very soft riding when at a proper ride height. If you want to ride to get better you 100% will need to lower the front .5” at least

    Longer springs will do nothing but require less preload to get the same lift height. This is NOT a solution.

    If you're set on keeping the front height matching the rear, you will likely run into a few issues with CV angels and shock topping out. If you measure from the center of lower shock bolt, to the top of top hat, it should not exceed 21". That is the tallest we recommend to maintain a comfortable ride. Measuring fender to hub is not ideal. If your further than 21", the shock is almost at full droop, and will ride very poorly.

    King 2.5 coilovers, 33s, steel bumpers and stuff.
    Unfortunately you're not going to be able to match the front with the rear and still maintain enough droop to ride and perform well. IFS midsize trucks don't do well when lifted over 2.5" with coilovers alone. You'll need to reduce the preload as advised above and then either live with the rake or change your rear end setup to match.

    Yea, and at this point, I've added a bunch of weight to the rear so now the front sits ever so slightly higher than the rear, so that preload has definitely got to go.
