Major reason to go with the # Leaf? Sorry for so many questions just trying to find what's best for the need

 

The single AAL is not worth it. $ vs practicality. You either want to go with a 3 leaf or a full leaf pack. The leaf pack will be more money and more for offroad and for an older truck with a worn out leaf pack. You leaf pack is still new, and it is a cheap way for you to get more stance, a better ride, and it will last you a couple of years until you happen to upgrade your leaf pack after more mods are done. (Yes, once you start......you can't stop)....

Has anyone lowered their spring perch level and felt a softer ride?

 

I'm on 2/3 and it rides very nicely. I've never been in another to compare to the higher perch settings.

 

Guess I just need to do it and find out for myself

5/5 with a 0.25” spacer on an Access Cab

 

What setting would you recommend for a bit of a softer ride? Currently, they are at the 6/5 notch height (or whichever height they get shipped with) I was thinking of I drop to a 5/4 notch that should soften the ride a bit. Currently do not have a front bumper or skids. Have sliders which added some weight but nothing too noticeable. Any suggestions appreciated.

 

if I remember correctly a lot of people report that one notch doesn’t affect the ride, other than height.

 

The biggest difference would more then likely be your tire choice and air pressure.

 

@WZ00R2 is correct. The tire choice and air pressure really going to be the comfort aspect. The notch is only going to give you the height. If you have the original 600 lb spring with no weight (armor, skids, winch, etc.) Then do the chalk test with you tire to get them at their optimal pressure for your area. If you have an "E" rated tire, the ride is going to be harsh either way due to the hardness of the tire. If you add more weight, like a front bumper, winch, and skids, then you can upgrade to the bilstein 650lb spring to bring your height back up after the weight brings it back down.

 

Bought the 6112 for Black Friday for my 1st gen. Wheelers has a pair of 5165 for the rear that are good for up tp 2.5" lift. I think they might be a little too short for my truck. I am going to cycle the suspension to see. I have 10" 5125 on the rear right now. According to Bilstein's website, they offer different lengths 5165, ut can't find them anywhere online. Can somebody point me in a direction of where to get them if I do need them?

Thank you. Now, to figure out which length I need. I don't like 4WP, but, begarrs can't be choosers.

 

Try searching for retailers near you on Bilsteins website. That way you can hopefully find someone local to help you get what you need.

 

I'm leaning towards doing the same exact lift/tire setup! How much did the bilsteins+UCAs+install cost in total?

 

My 6112/5160s and a progressive AAL where $1280 to my door. Install costs will differ per shop. I recommend installing yourself, its not too bad.

 

Did you leave the overload spring on?
