After my timing belt job a few weeks ago I fired up the engine to listen for noises and I noticed a metallic scraping sound coming from below at the front and figured it was the AC idler pulley. I looked at a new pulley assembly and Toyota wanted $55, so instead I ordered a new 6301-2NSE Nachi bearing from Amazon. Swapping it out was easy and fun! Took me an hour and I saved $40.

Removed Pulley by removing the pulley lock nut and loosening the tensioner bolt.
    KIMG0887.jpg

Removed the snap ring. Pressed out using 2-jaw puller. Could also be removed using a punch or any similar tool you have. Spinning the old bearing revealed it was shot. Looks like I guessed right!
    KIMG0888.jpg

Pressed in new bearing using an appropriately sized socket and 2-jaw puller. Used a bit of grease to help it slide in. Reinstall snap ring, then reinstall the pulley and adjust tension on the belt. Torque pulley lock nut to 29 ft-lbs.

I did not cut or trim mine at all.
I did rearrange the mounting plates to move it forward towards the windshield a little. But all that required was drilling a couple of holes in the brackets.

It was not an easy decision to purchase it, but it has done exactly what I wanted it to do.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
So the Scanguage - Ultraguage - Torque App discussion from yesterday got me thinking. So I decided to figure out a different mounting location for the phone I run the Torque App on.

I previously ordered a switch panel from Paranoid Fab... I requested the switch cut outs NOT be cut out, and they happily obliged. (Didn't know exactly what, if anything, I was going to do with the mount when I bought it)

    Screenshot_20200111-210019_Chrome.jpg
    https://www.paranoidfabrications.co...products/1st-gen-tacoma-ashtray-switch-holder

So, I was working on some other stuff, and I decided to give something a try.

I had some 1 inch round magnets. So I drilled 3 one inch holes in the mounting bracket. Then I used some Automotive Goop to glue the magnets in the holes flush with the front side.

    Here's the front
    20200111_210616.jpg

    Here's the back
    20200111_213725.jpg

Cut a piece of 16 guage sheet metal and put it inside the phone case. (This is the same princple my magnet dash mount works on, but this piece is bigger to cover all three magnets... and also, now I can use the dash mount for my regular phone)
    20200111_210727.jpg

The paint ran on the front face of the mount... but it turns out it wont matter. I ordered some textured rubber adhesive sheets. I'll cover the face of the mount with one of those. Between the magnets and the friction on the rubber, the phone should be mounted solid.

Pistol & Gun Grip Tape for Guns Knives Phones Cameras Tools Anything! 7 Pieces 8.5" x 2" Commercial Grade Adhesive. Non Slip solution makes things grippy. Black - Waterproof. Red Cat Brand https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LX1OKNQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_EkRgEb7ZMMMAD

Gotta love Amazon... the rubber grip material will be here tomorrow.

The phone will be down, pretty out of sight. And it will be connected to a charger. The phone is set to turn on when it plugs in to a charger. So, since the charger it will be plugged in to only has power when the truck turns on, the phone will automatically turn on when I turn on the truck. All I have to do is swipe the screen and Torque App will be up and running.

Anyone know if there is a way the adjust the hood latch?
I have 1/4 , 3/8 or more play when the hood is closed.

If I use the rubber hood screw bumpers to take the play the hood will be sticking up
above the body line on the fender side, so I need the hood to latch to hook the hood lower then where
it’s at now or maybe it’s worn out.

You got me curious as they always used to be $1k, but I'm seeing $1,200 too.

King is really strict about their advertised pricing, so I doubt you'll find a better price.

I see quite a bit of people mention that PM’ing Marie at Headstrong Offroad usually can get you a little better than advertised pricing. They just ran a King/ADS group buy so they should be able to get you a little something
