One thing that definitely appeals to me about Iowa is that the state does not require annual car inspections! Virginia, where we lived from 1998-2000 (Virginia Beach), and 2002-2005 (Northern VA/DC suburbs) only required safety inspections every two years, with only certain places in Northern Virginia requiring emissions testing as well. Virginia recently started requiring the inspections every year.

Pennsylvania and Virginia have a huge conflict of interest because they have dealerships and garages conduct the inspections, the same people and businesses who profit from fixing cars!

As much as I hate shoveling snow, I miss having it! Also, does all of Missouri require car inspections or only St. Louis metro?

We get away with a lot of shit here. The highest horsepower car I have tuned is a fully tube chassis 1994 Cavalier with a twin 72mm turbo 390ci LS motor. 1126rwhp. Is registered, insured and has plates.

    Safety and emissions?

I agree with the safety inspections because it keeps shitboxes off the road; And if you build up enough of a relationship with a garage like I have and take such good care of your vehicle that it never fails like I also do, the PA safety inspection fee is generally done for free. The emissions test, however, runs $50-$60!

    both!

rotted fuel tank on top from corrosion, it pours out if i fill it too far and can smell gas vapor if over 1/2 full

might have to dump it in the Missouri river!

All of Missouri requires safety inspections. But only certain places require emissions testing.

In Pennsylvania, that would be considered an antique/classic...

With antique, there's no inspection at all but the vehicle must be at least 25 years old nad you can only drive a few thousand miles a year; With classic, you can drive the same as an ordinary passenger vehicle and are still exempt from emissions (but not safety), but the vehicle be at least 15 years old.

And you guys also have to have two plates...

Some people don't mind having two plates, but I've lived in Pennsylvania for almost fifteen years and I think they look unsightly and are completely pointless.

For many teenagers, owning a shitbox like a Cavalier is a rite of passage!
