Long overdue - RCI 3/16” skid (steel).

Easiest mod I’ve ever done to this Taco, took me 10 min MAX. 6 bolts and aligns PERFECTLY with mounting points. RCI did a damn good job. Doesn’t get any simpler than that.

I know (some) people don’t want the extra 47lbs from a steel skid, but take off your sway bar, the shitty stock “skid plate,” brackets, etc and you’re maybe 10-15lbs over stock after that.

I was thinking about doing the same thing, but in the back end of my bed.
But I worried about them becoming missiles if I get into a front end collision.

Can flip it over and put it back there. I decided against putting in the back because it might fishtail

Uh, you'd have to dig a much deeper hole to "put it back where it came from." Doing that you're just going to contaminate the ground water.

Wouldn't the sand be most effective all the way against the tailgate? That would create the largest moment against the rear axle.

I thought it might cause fishtailing if I put them there and braked hard. But I could easily move it to there and try it out

Weight for traction is best applied ahead of the rear axle. Weight applied behind the rear axle takes weight off of the front wheels which lessens their traction.

This image from popular Science is a prime example why the earth is so F****D up. Lets just put everything in a hole and it will disappear...or better yet, dump it in the ocean, only the fish will notice.
I can only hope that Taco owners are more respectful to the earth than that image.

Not what I did, but what I should have done! I should have driven my Tacoma to the deer lease instead of my new land barge. I wanted to take a trip in the new truck, arrived to a huge thunderstorm with hail and about 3” of rain. I’ll never get this thing as clean as it was Friday morning....
