With your jacked up back you would be at risk every time you had to do a prisoner extraction from a cell. I knew guys who worked at The Big Q, and the stories are ugly.

You'd think they would only do this if some hazard like a washout, over hanging trees.

Sometimes it only takes one person to get stuck and call for help to shut a road down near where I live and have wheeled. That road gets icy and out sloped I noticed. Some say dangerous I say challenging at best.

They do it not because people cannot navigate the route but because they know weather is coming, people are dumb and will over drive their ability, and because resources to rescue are limited. Remember, there’s a lot more to patrol than a few roads.

That part of the road is still paved and for quite a bit further past that. There is zero cell signal out there though and you lose it probably a good 30 minutes prior. Stupid people ruining it for those more equipped. That's not deep enough for snowmobiles yet without doing some major damage to the road. Plus, they go in from the Truckee side where it's deeper anyway.

Recall that story last winter of those families out with their kids and SAR had to retrieve them?

The yr the bridge went out was when they did the birm to keep people out. They couldn't get heavy equipment in to put k-rails in yet.

Another problem is, like stated, part paved and somewhat descent FS road ability. I see so many low profile subies, civics, even priuses runing through there, very popular populated road. They all think they can access for a sunday drive during the winter. Just like the lady that was rescued at faucher after being stuck for 2 days by a few Side by Sides when me and @Whitebutler did our run. Can imagine how many other rescues go on that we never hear about.
I definitely can understand and dont blame them to close this and other roads due to these incidents.

It definitely was a challenge for me and John to get threw from end to end, and this winter was light during this run.

Where I live, after a mile or so, the FS roads get steep enough that, that is as far as you can go, so the distance from neighbors or help isn't far. I cut firewood by myself, only incident I ever had with my saw was at home.

The sound a small caliber gun might make if someone might target shoot responsibly while out in the woods.
