Sorry, I'm an idiot. I guess the rear window is in the rear, huh? I mean I'm looking for a sliding window where the front of the cap meets truck cab.

LOLOLOLOL is he talking about the one closest to the cab? If so, yes, those can have a slider feature. To me though, that's the front window, and I'm sure the manufacturer considers it the front too.

The rear window to me is the one at the tailgate. I've never seen one of those with a sliding window.

Now there's the full hatch/door option that replaces the tailgate. That doesn't have any options for sliders either.

My dream cap would be the hi rise type (4" taller that the cab roof) windoors w/sliders &screens, and that full rear hatch w/door option.

    New that's a $4k cap. I priced them :anonymous:

Not an idiot at all. I thought that's what you meant Nick. As long as you're not particular about the color, 2nd gen caps are pretty easy to find. Most are in great shape and fairly inexpensive.

    Patience is key.

To the right fabricator it might be exactly what they are looking for. Some guys need something that isn't off the jig every once in a while. @Skell or @Arcticelf maybe this is something up your alley?

That's pretty much square in my wheel house.

So far the only things I've done multiple copies of a design is when I upgraded the stuff on my truck to match something someone else wanted :)

Ok, if y'all are willing to give it a thought first, here is my idea.
I want to have a bed rack that mounts on top of a diamondback cover, but at the same time allow it to still open from either end. Also, to possibly allow for the UpTop Overland Alpha eX to mount on top.
I know this would probably require a lot of moving parts, so maybe a no go, or I'll just have to remove the UpTop rack every time I plan on opening it. If anyone has thoughts on that, let me know.

How is your diamond back split? Maybe two smaller racks or baskets. To use an uptop cut where the splits are and create custom hinges

I have the HD, so its split front/back. about 35" per panel and 6" for the center? I was thinking something along the lines of having one truss on the front most cleats, one in the center panel and one on the rear most cleats. Might be best to not even have a rack up top, as that would make things super complicated. Who knows.

I'd assume you'd want to remove the fixed points from the bottom, so that the front and back of the DB cover can be moved? I'd litterally design it with a few hinge points ot bolts to be removed in order to make that work. The fixed point would be in the center between the front and the back of the cover.

I was thinking that the only fixed point would be in the center between the two panels, exactly as you said, and that the rack would only be attached to the DB on the ends. If that would cause too much strain on the DB cover latches, then making some sort of plate to bolt on to T-nuts on the inside isn't such a bad idea.

I guess we can start with that.
Should we see if @Arcticelf and @Skell have any ideas as well?

Thank you, I try. I know I have doctor's handwriting so I tried to write a little slower. Hopefully its legible.
@Nimble9 If you need more details, or have suggestions, let me know. I'll try to sketch it up.
