Had a similar experience with a 2009 Audi A4 w/ 78,000 miles. Turbo was drinking oil, around a quart every 10 days or so. It was out of warranty, but factory recall covered it all. 3 days later and over $3,000 worth of repairs (that were covered under recall, they completely tore down the engine and rebuilt it), sold it the next week and bought a brand new car with a long warranty for much cheaper.

Also, a friend accidentally broke a visor clip in that Audi. Replacements on eBay were over $60, for a damn plastic clip... nope, never again.

I do miss that car though, so much fun to drive.

Loved my truck, but after the abuse it was worse for wear... what sealed the deal on a new truck was the awful noises and vibrations from the rear end at 131k.

 

I really wanted to like the Tacoma - I grew up with 80’s Toyota pickups. The 3.5 just wasn’t for me. It’s just not the type of engine I’d want in a pickup truck.

 

Seems to be lots of butt hurt in this thread, but I’ll play. My “that’s it” moment came in my first car when I was 16 years old. It was a 1990 Mazda Miata. Super fun car, but when I had to go to OfficeMax to get a big project display board for a high school project and couldn’t fit it in the car, spent 10 minutes trying different angles looking like an idiot in the parking lot, I said “I’ve had it!” Sold the car and bought my first Ranger. Lol

I had a 1972 Celica as my first car. The welded seams on the front shock towers rusted through so the front struts collapsed into the engine bay and rested against the underside of the hood. When you popped the hood, the car would lower an inch. I decided it was time to sell. Got $100 for it with full disclosure.

I swore I’d never buy another crappy Japanese-made Toyota, and so far I haven’t, goddamit.

 

Exactly my sentiments. It was silly to me to have to use 4-lo, a parking brake, or back down a driveway to overcome a poor reverse gear ratio-low RPM torque issue!

 

My gen 1 was a great vehicle... but...it needed brakes, ...and the cam bolts for alignment were seized, therefore LCA's and all that........then, I was hanging Christmas lights and stepped off the ladder, went in the garage to get another set and the wind blew the 18 foot ladder down ....buckled the fender, creased the hood, broke the windshield and creased the roof.
I was bitter for a week....Traded it soon after.

 

A front engine vehicle parked on gravel downhill, all the weight at the front and a light rear end. Sounds like it doesn't matter what gear ratio you had, you were going to have difficulty.
