I'm still holding out for the OEM system for JBL equipped Tacomas. I just put some new tires, new tonnueu cover and new nerf bars on my truck so it's like new again and ready for some better audio.

I like loudish bass, I listen to alot of heavy metal, some country rap, opera so if they ever come out with this setup, then I am going to do the double subs

Is there anyone in the upper seattle area with this system I might be able to take a listen to before spending 2k?

@oemaudioplus i noticed from a few pictures posted from guys with access cabs that they have different style jump seats in the extended cab area than I do with my 06. Is their any interference caused but that when installing the subwoofer?

Clearly there is a market for the folks with the JBL package looking for a little more stereo oomph

Excuse the delayed response on this @fuzzydoodle. Did you have any luck finding a demo opportunity in your area?

I see that hand. Thank you @Sulley16. Our team is queued to send out the first major update via email this week to the JBL-Equipped Tacoma Owners on the email waiting list.

Thank you for confirming @SilverSurfer06 - Based on your question we suspect you have the full bench (Image "A") which essentially occupies the same location as our Subwoofer mounting/placement (Image "B"). Unfortunately, this factory seat design will result in interference. There have been some owners that removed the bench to accommodate the Subwoofer placement because they were using the space for utility vs passengers anyways, but we realize this is not a solution for owners that use this seating area.

@oemaudioplus just wondering what happened to the major update for the jbl systems that was supposed to be emailed a few weeks ago.

I see that hand. Thank you @Sulley16. Our team is queued to send out the first major update via email this week to the JBL-Equipped Tacoma Owners on the email waiting list.

    Hi all,

I've been watching this thread for about two months as we've been upgrading our 2019 SR5 V6/3.6L 2WD Tacoma Double Cab. It is my oldest son's first vehicle and I'm sure he'd have preferred a cooler, faster car. It is an attractive Cement Grey and has a low 3k miles as it was purchased to supplement our daily drivers with the future youth driver's vehicle. We quickly added step bars and later a cold air intake and recently a healthy cat-back exhaust system. The performance, sound and overall responsiveness of the truck increased nicely. I purchased and just took delivery of the OEM Audio + Reference 500 w/ both subs. We also purchased a Alpine iLX-F309TCM HALO9 9" Receiver which is a drop-in fully compatible head unit. We intend to have this professionally installed due to time constraints. I'll keep you posted.

Looks like a solid unit. give us an update when you get it installed. I think a lot of people enjoy the OEM kit because it retains a lot of the factory options and feel. If this unit truly retains the factory controls flawlessly, then i think i would consider going the same path. I have the JBL package and currently OEM audio plus does not have an upgrade for my truck. Adding this unit opens up a lot of options for a truly amazing system.

@elricho - Did you get the headunit in and working with the OEM Audio Plus reference system? I am also wanting to upgrade my head unit to JOY/Android or something and dont know if it would work.

Well hi guys! Got it done. I live in Kissimmee, Florida and our best rated local installer asked to view all of the components. I gave him the instructions, YouTube links, etc. He said that it would take a day and quoted $200.00. I also asked for a hardwired dashcam wire. I thought that was low, so offered $300 after I showed him both subs and noted the hole placements. My wife and son brought the truck in (I was away) and the installer had all of the the online knowledge...and was amped to take on the job. He completed it by close of business and OMG. The Alpine head unit is simply amazing and fits perfectly in the dash. So nice to have a huge screen and Car Play. My son messed around with the EQ but eventually agreed that it was best flat (let the DSP do its job). He runs the sub gain @ 50% and frankly its too much for this 40' something. He ran the volume up until I feared hearing damage and right about that time, I heard some distortion out of the front door speakers. No big deal...no a-hole should be running that loud without hearing protection. He ran his R&B/Hip Hop (I know all of his songs from driving with him). They were 100x better with this system. I felt like I was in a sound studio. I ran Metallica's Enter Sandman (should have tried Master of Puppets) and it was the best in car audio I've ever heard. I plan to take his truck for my driving whenever possible just to rock out. I can't say enough about this system. I'm in for over $4k and it feels worth every dime. I'll be happy to take pictures and make a YouTube video, but I'm not sure any of that is demonstrative of the system. Questions???

2017 Tacoma TRD sport base stereo. I was a past Pioneer user back in the day. I had high expectations for this system and OEM surpassed them!!!

Been using and very happy with the reference 500 system in my Tacoma for two full weeks now. This is the perfect system for my needs. The sound clarity and crispness is amazing. It is very stock like from 0-20 not really any louder but better quality sound with more bass. Level 20-35 starts to get more impressive the further you go and more bass from the sub. Level 35-46 starts to get quite loud powerful still crisp and clear and the bass slowly increases as not to distort. Levels 46-52 is the perfect loud sweet spot. 52 and up i starts to get way loud but the crispness drops off only a tad but not much. Way too loud lol I will only do that every once in awhile : )

Very happy with the shipping time, it came in one week. Packing and the initial quality of components were good. I was very happy and impressed. The install went great step by step via the youtube video. Only problem i had was passing the 2 yellow wires through firewall grommet, it took me over an hour and the grommet popped out each time but i got it back in. Took right at 7 hours installed. This included installing sound dead mat in the doors and a quick interior clean, vacuum etc..

Daniel was awesome and answered all my preorder questions and the entire order process was easy and great! This system is worth every penny!! I can't believe how much good sound it puts out for only like 360 total watts RMS i think it is... Such a well designed system of high quality components and plug and play and it fits well. I have NO worries this system will last as long or longer then the truck, 20+ years i'm hoping.

    Rick O.

PS: I am on their list to do live demo's in the Omaha Nebraska area for anyone that wants to hear it in person before buying and give them my thoughts about it etc... 402-779-5803 or PM me.

** 1 MONTH UPDATE. Wow this system is awesome. the new-ness and clarity still impressive. The luster has not worn off at all. The speakers are by fully broken in and played at all volume levels. : ) Still tweaking the low mid and high EQ once in awhile. It depends on what volume number you want to crank it up too. I have the settings bumped up quit a ways especially the mid and highs and the sweet spot is right at volume 48 for most all music. Continues to put a smile on my face and make me say "Wow and Geez" all the time. When driving around with it cranked up it does give you the sense that your in your own world / sound studio, and keeps you awake and going on those highway interstate drives. Can't wait for first long road trip with this!!! When the virus stuff has calmed down. Stay well all and be healthy and safe!!!

Hello!!?? Anybody still in this thread. I'm looking at this OEM upgrade and was just wondering, is the addition subwoofer in the back even necessary or does the one all you need. Those of you who have posted, do you just have the one in the back?

I have the single sub setup with dedicated amplifier. I had every intention of upgrading to a second sub later. Now, I don think I will need it. I have had the system installed for a while now. A second sub is probably overkill lol.
In the process of sound deadening this weekend, so I can update you monday or Tuesday when I finish.
