Anybody regret not buying a 4X4?

I do... I just couldn't pass up the deal I got on this truck. I sure the 4X4 comes in handy

 

If you don't live in an area that gets snow, and you don't do any serious offroading, then 4x4 is not a big deal anyway.

 

the extra money in my pocket is nice lol, sometimes only when stuck in mud

 

Traded mine in for a 4x4 after one year. Could have used 4wheel drive when going out in the country to look at some land. Map took on a road that turn to gravel, then dirt and then mud. Almost got stuck in the miidle of deliverance. My 20 years exp. driving in snow helped me get out.

 

I regret it every day. Not because I need it but because I want it.

This, plus a few more commas. This truck was planned to evolve into a trail rig over its lifetime anyway. 4x4 was a must.

 

My problem was that I didn't have any interest in off-roading. I was just concerned with hauling gear and towing. Then I found TW.

I had a 4wd Jeep and used the 4wd 3 times in 4 years.
I had a 4wd F150 and when I needed the 4wd it didn't work. Cost me $50 bucks to get towed 15 ft to get out of my own back yard. A buddy with a diesel 4x4 F250 couldn't get me out. Turned out the 4wd auto hubs were in 4 pieces. So now I just don't get into those situations and I saved a little money.

 

I was living on the Gulf Coast when I bought my Tacoma. Didn't need it there. Moved to PA last August, just in time for the worst winter EVAR. Could've used it.

 

I love 4x4....will only use it occasionally on dirt roads, scrub trails or sandy pull offs...

it's nice knowing I got it if I need it.

Now...a long bed is something I'd like some days...and if I was buying today...I'd still have a hard time with that decision.

 

I don't have regrets because I have one.
Growing up in CT there was always a need for 4wd, the back of the trucks are to light for 2wd, and we lived in areas with lots of hills, not worth the aggravation of not getting home.
Jeep, 4x4 and lightly wheeled
'96 Taco, 4x4, dam sensor broke in the xfer case, but luckly we didn't get snow until it was fixes.
'08 Taco, 4x4, wouldn't get a truck in New England without it.
'10 John Deere 2320, 4x4. DIESEL

Last two rigs were 4x4 and hardly ever used it. Prerunner this time for me, no regrets.

It all depends or your usage and driving skills whether it's worth it or not. I grew up in Montana and spent 15 years driving there, only had a 4x4 for a couple of the last years there. Back in my high school days my friend and I used to hunt, fish and trap all the time. We used his old Nissan stationwagon to get around in. It's all in knowing what you can and can't do. Knowing you couldn't afford a 4x4 also played quite a role.

 

I did........and traded it for a 4x4 after a few months and I freaking love it.

 

I agree... its nice knowing you have it if you need it.
