I have tried the setup that you linked. It works well, to a point. I still had blind spots that would hide an average car.

I installed the Rav 4 convex mirrors, and no longer have the blind spots.

BTW, I still adjust the mirrors like your link described. That method, plus the Rav 4 convex mirrors work great together.

    Thanks.

I'm planning on ordering a set of these. I don't currently have heated mirrors but I'd sure like to. Does anyone have a link to any information I could use to make a wiring harness to heat these? Connection type, fuse size, etc?

Thanks, it looks like I could just run a relay of my aux panel with a 10 amp fuse and some spade connectors to the mirrors. I have the MESO puddle lights to install as well so I'm hoping to get it all done at the same time. We'll see how it goes!

Do you think it would get too hot if I left it on while driving? The aux panel is ignition dependent so it doesn't stay on after the truck is off but I have seen some recommendations for a timed relay.

You should get a timer, all Toyota's with outside mirror heater have them.

I want to replace my mirrors' glass with wide view units. I can't seem to get the original ones to pull off even though I have watched a few videos which make it seem easy. Any secret to getting them loose? I am afraid of breaking something.

I also have the MESO puddle lite kit awaiting installation. Should I just wait until installing that to get the mirror faces off?

When I did mine, I got very frustrated that it wouldn't pop off. I spent at least 30 minutes trying to get the first one off. I finally used enough force to pop it free. :frusty:

I had the second one off in just a few seconds . . . :notsure:

I do think that it's a very good idea to do it warm, when the plastic is a little more pliable.

    Good luck ! Don't give up !

Help it along from the backside- pop the cover off and get a small flat head to open any visible clips while pulling from the front

I was wondering about that approach. I’ll give that a shot.

You do have heated mirrors already. Standard even on the SR. It’s the button just below and left of your climate control knob.

I ended up pulling my mirror caps off. Made it a breeze to take the glass off and not have to tug the wires too much.

May I assume that the caps just gently snap off or is there a trick for them too?
