Yes. That is a later step after you get a REG file back from OVT. Like I said though, the HH is a completely different setup after you get the REG file. I just wanted to let you know that there is more after that and the video that I linked won't help.

I only know about the older Flash Kit with the Tactrix Adapter.

Yeah I only have the flash kit also but would think system Id is obtained the same.

As for antivirus, if you’re running that it’s not the only thing that must be disabled to run it. Windows defender had to be disabled in my laptop to make the program do its thing. Once you get the truck tuned you’ll like it though. Be worth the wait that’s for sure!

Window Defender is antivirus, plus malware, ransomware, etc. If you are using another virus program, you should turn Defender off. It is usually bad bananas to stack a/v programs.

That said, Defender by itself has worked great for me since it launched. It found stuff that other have missed. Even random scans from Malwarebytes lately seem to take a second place to Defender. Just sayin'.

The problem is between the chair and the keyboard, not with the OVTune instructions.
Reach out to their support and go from there.

If you don't have the handheld, do you have a Tractix device to connect to the truck? Is there a physical connection being made to your truck in some way?

Idk what I'm expecting in the mail. I assume it will be the actual device. What im trying to do now is provide the system ID to ovtune. I was told I didnt have to wait for the actual device to do that. And could save time my installing software and registering while I wait

What do you physically have going from the PC to the OBDII port on the truck?

The new HH kits don't come with the Tactrix. They are very different.

You don't need to connect to get the System ID and the REG file back from OVT. It is better to send that off while waiting on the shipment.

yeah, sorry bud, i was misunderstanding what you were struggling with.

You should be able to get your system ID before having any devices. I think the others are correct when suggesting there is a something being disabled by antivirus/Defender software

    Spot on.

Nothing yet. You can do some prep work while waiting on the shipment so that you aren't waiting some more after the fun stuff arrives.

"Prep work"...meaning install and register the software. That's it, right?

Try turning off windows defender or whatever other antivirus you are running. Then start over with following the instructions. What instructions are you following?

    not enough.
    That sounds right.

I think the other's are correct as well. antivirus/defender. Go to your control panel, find defender, and add an exemption for ovtune software. Also, try running it as administrator. (right click on the ovtune software, click on "run as administrator").

@ruff cobb @Color_Me_Taco I made a post on the Colorado Regional forum linking to this thread to see if there is some ColoRADo help. Hang in there! I know how it feels to be in the situation.

    Yep!

Otherwise, I'd read through the HH instructions a few times. I did the same when waiting for my Flash Kit.

Here is what arrived today. A case, a cable and the flash devise. No instructions at all. I hope Matt includes some detailed ones with whatever file shows up.

There are very detailed instructions on the site. I doubt he's going to give you instructions on how to use a pc.

I am not a huge fan of ovtunes support and sometimes his reponses to users with problems but jesus...

he does warn to NOT buy the tune if you dont have any computer skills.
