I was talking with some people about this the other day. A prefilter brings the air up from the bottom and usually doesn't allow as much airflow as the regular snorkel head. It can get clogged up with certain types of snow.

My recommendation is to run the snorkel head facing backwards in heavy wet snow so it doesn't accumulate. otherwise if it's dry snow, it's no different than driving in the rain with it facing forwards.

Any thoughts on keeping the drain holes on the airbox open? If you seal them up what happens if water makes its way through thesnorkel intake?

You can if you want to, leave them as stock. I've seen a video though of how much water can get thru those holes if the vehicle does get submerged.

Whatever water makes its way thru the snorkel would get dispersed in the tubing and in the airbox then on the air filter where I feel like it would very quickly dry due to all the air flowing past it.

Thanks for the quick reply and for the quick shipping! I am stoked to get it installed this weekend. I am not planning on running deep water, I am mostly installing a snorkel as little bit of insurance and to keep dust outta the filter. I might just leave them open for now.

Finished up my install. Like others have mentioned, my template didn't line up perfectly and I had to upsize all my bolts to varying degrees. I feel like the larger holes in the fender were a little too big, but all my bits skipped a bit before biting down...that may have been operator error. Make sure you get a brush for your paint/primer that has a long skinny handle so you can access the backside of all the holes you drill for touch-up. I'll probably go back in and put silicone over the bolt holes to prevent moisture intrusion/corrosion down the road. I also put silicone on the leading and upper edge of my snorkel to minimize water intrusion, but allow a drain path if water got in. I didn't drill into my a pillar, and instead used JB weld to adhere the upper bracket to the truck. I also put the bracket on backwards due to the way the snorkel fit. If you go the JB weld route, make sure you sand the bracket to bare metal, and rough up your a pillar well for maximum adhesion. The JB weld I used was rated for 5000 ish psi, so it should hold (I hope). I had to use ratchet straps to get the snorkel in place and let it sit for 19 hrs before removing the straps. The gap between the snorkel and truck was at least .75 inches before using the cargo strap/JB weld. Last thing, I have an ultra gauge and regularly monitor intake air temp. Sitting in my driveway at idle, I already see a big difference. I assume the same will hold true at City/highway speeds.IMG_20200112_115627.jpg IMG_20200112_115608.jpg IMG_20200112_115622.jpg IMG_20200113_082846.jpg IMG_20200113_082900.jpg Pics below, enjoy and good luck!

@Sirnick88 , curious to know how intake temp varies at highway. Also, the impact on your MPG as detected by the ultragauge.

@CowboyTaco after a 15 min drive to lunch, 95% humidity, truck thermostat reads 70-71, the lowest intake temp was 77, avg speed was 40. At one point while accelerating the temp dipped to 75. During my drive to work I noticed the intake temp was 2-3 degrees higher than the thermo indicated, but now it appears to be 5-6, which is in line with the stock intake configuration. Don't know if the high humidity is impacting intake temp, but I'll follow up on a less humid day.

Yes, it's tucked under the snorkel so you can't see the bolts or rivets where it's attached to the a-pillar.

Usually the bracket is reversed, but some bending is required to line it up properly. I would've gone that route, but my vice is packed up. Glad I went this route though
