Yep, it sucks. I would consider just moving out of my department to another with a full time teleworking position until we move, but I would be judged for not speaking with my current management about hating my work and plans to move. The catch there is that if I did, I would put myself on the chopping block regardless of how long I've been with the company. We're also California based and our policy only allows employees and contractors to work in the state so it isn't an option to stay here.

 

Any chance you could hang on where you're at until you move or is that out of the question?

 

Oh sure, but it'll continue to suck the life out of me until that time. The problem is I am on the hook for monitoring deliverables for dates all throughout the year so trying to plan birthdays/vacations all revolve around what work I have going on. They talk about work life balance, but when your boss talks to you about not taking time off around these dates then that's not really balance.

True. I loved my job prior, but had a horrible boss who cock blocked my promotion after I told her I wouldn't join her new team (and that I didn't like her). Now here I am stuck on a new team with a better boss, but hate my work.

It does indeed. Our raises and bonuses also don't come until the end of March, so if I leave now I'm losing out on that. Also looking at a pay cut since I am searching for what was my previous position. I'd be wayyyy happier.

 

You're looking to telecommute no? At least your boos is cool but hating your work is rough. I'd definitely stay until bonus time if possible unless something comes along that suits you perfectly! On the pay cut I'd say it's a moot point as long as you can manage financially. Being happy with what you do for work is far more important than $$.
