What sounds like a loose parking brake cable under my truck?

I've started to notice a sound coming from under my truck that sounds like a parking brake cable bouncing around against the frame when I go over bumps. I've poked around under there and see nothing at all that looks like it could be making that noise. Hell, I couldn't even locate the parking brake cable. Anybody have an idea what could be making a sound like this? (Note: my truck is mostly stock but about 6 months ago I had a mild Blistein 5100 and add-a-leaf done so I could mount 285's on my stock rims).

    Thanks

Thanks...will look at this tonight. Is that an adjustable bump stop damper on your frame?

yeah, me too across multiple vehicles. even cut a 1/8" steel cable I had locking it. now I have 3/16", not that it matters if they have bolt cutters. Have lost batteries, tools from bed boxes, etc. One time I found all my tools at a nearby pawn shop. Called the cops and the cops asked the pawn shop owner if he knew they were stolen. Owner said "of course not." Cops said I could buy them back from him since he didn't know they were stolen. Yup. True story.

Did you file a police report and give your local police department the serial numbers when they were stolen?

The first thing I do when I get a tool is write down the serial number in case it's stolen so I can report.

There's no registering a stolen vehicle.

In this particular case my name was etched on all the tools. The slimy shop owner said he paid like $800 for the whole batch and I could pay him $800 for them, which was absolute bullshit because everyone knows pawn shops give you like 5c-10c on the dollar. I felt like I was in the middle of a racket. I was so pissed. Filled out a police report and everything. Insurance company didn't care, and it was all under my deductible, so I was out like $1000 in tools.

Actually I have a story for that. A friend of mine in LA bought a PT Cruiser in like 2001. This was right when they came out and were hot, and before everybody knew how shitty they were.
It depends on the jurisdiction. A friend of mine bought a car off Craigslist. Guy had what looked like a valid registration. He took it to the tax office, paid his taxes on it and got a plate and registration in his name. A few months go by and the cops show up at his door and inform him that the car was reported stolen. Thing was, he went through the ENTIRE process of legally registering it and no red flags came up. Dont' as me how Los Angeles' tax and DMV databases work, but that VIN should have popped up as registered to someone else. So, the cops take the car and give it back to the original owner. My friend is out like 17k and his insurance won't pay him out because for some reason that's not covered.

Therefore, in this case he bought a car he didn't know was stolen and the state let him register it and everything, but he still got screwed in the end.

Is the front body mount bushings a common issue to fail? I have been hearing this "clunk" under my front drivers side and can feel it in the floor boards when its super cold out. Last year brought it in to a shop to look because it was to cold out for me to look into it in my driveway and found my body mount bolt was loose. This is it is back and I even heard it on the passenger side when it was almost -20.

UPDATE: Turns out it was the splash shield rattling from a poor oil change technique (not done by me!). Noticed some oil leaking and took it into the shop...found out the drain plug was loose AND the splash shield was improperly reattached. Have contacted the moronic oil change joint and chewed them a new one.

Likely no proof they were yours. If there was, I don’t believe this is a thing and call BS. If there was proof I would’ve asked to speak to the shift SGT, LT. or CPT. That’s not how return of legal property works. The pawn shop would be out the $ if there was valid proof that those were YOUR tools.

You miss the point of the meme. Of course I care. The oil change place could give a rip.....

My Passenger seat, if it is not occupied and at full back position, will sometimes rattle (especially is the seat back is in a straight up vertical position. Truck sway on bumps makes it worse. Sometimes the seat does not lock on both tracks in the rear position. Dealer can adjust this - or keep you unoccupied seat one slick forward from full rear.
