Lets see those stepsides!

I bought mine new in '01 and I remember one of the standard color/trim options was what I got (can't remember what they called it) which made it have no chrome at all, and front bumper and rear were same color as rest of the truck. Option wasn't just for stepsides but also for regular bed models. But what I don't remember ever seeing as an option was the front bumper in chrome and rear in color (which seems like the case with yours).

 

For the Stepside, standard equipment was Black Front and Rear bumpers.
Then option code "UE" is the body-colored Rear bumper. And "LX" is the SR5 package which puts the Chrome bumper out Front.

Good info. So, interesting, that was an option to get the "color-keyed" rear-bumper and overfenders but then chrome front bumper. My front bumper is the color-keyed which I'm glad they offered--in '01 anyway. I'd swear I've seen your red color with the same color on front bumper too.

 

Like I said earlier, there are plenty of pics out on Google showing the stepside in all colors (including Radiant Red) with both painted and chrome front bumper. No rhyme or reason, that I can see.

When I started digging after you mentioned it, I fully expected this to be something related to the end of the Taco stepside production run, and maybe they made an in-year change. But it isn't, based on pics of 01 and 02 models.

Yes sir, the old box was rotted through bad. It pretty much didn't have a floor. Just got the box on a couple days ago and I still need to do a little bed liner on it.
