My mom's 2004 Honda Odyssey had killer A/C, as did my dad's 2013 Honda Pilot; The 2018 Yukon's A/C works good, but it uses that new R1234yf crap and doesn't seem as cold as the A/C in vehicles with R134a...

Who'd have thought that a refrigerant would actually make R134a look good!

    @shakerhood

My friend from Hong Kong told me that R-12 is totally outlawed in the United Kingdom. This means that nobody can even possess it. I looked it up, and apparently it has been totally banned since 2001. Under this law, all vehicles using R-12 were supposed to be retrofitted. I find it hard to believe that everybody in the UK complied with this, and there are probably still 1993-older vehicles with R-12 systems being driven around. In my opinion, if the system is sealed and not leaking, no laws have been broken.

I am not crazy over the new Refrigerants either, I think my Tacoma has that 1234 shit.

My dad's mechanic won't even service R1234yf systems because it requires training, and I'm pretty sure he's going to retire soon. Luckily, my truck uses R134a! I never thought I'd ever say that...

Someday I will get around to installing a conversion kit in the Mustang, they have some pretty sweet kits available.

Does it leak or something? Why not just continue using R-12?

Yeah it has leaked for years, those new kits are pretty sweet with newer smaller compressors.

Sanden-type? I thought the newest Fox Bodies had those already? I thought it was possible to reuse the compressors if your removed the residual refrigerant oil?

The new kits are pretty complete and have a nice smaller compressor, some day I will get around to picking one up.

Does your A/C even blow remotely cold right now?

I haven't even switched it on in years so I doubt it.

Try it when it warms up!

Also, add a ground-pounding stereo and a backup camera!

The last time I turned it on was probably 4 or 5 years ago and it was barely cool so I decided at that point I would get a kit in the future. A ground pounding stereo is not easily accomplished in that car as the hatch floor is also the storage spot for the Sunroof. I may look into some kind of wireless backup camera/rearview mirror set at some point too.

It is a difficult car, still really no place to put any stereo equipment as there is no room under the seats and the hatch is used up for sunroof storage. Pretty much have to use the stock speaker locations but could possibly hide an amp up under the dash though.

I'm sure people have done sub enclosures; Are you on a Mustang forum?

I have been on the Mustang forums for a long time. People do Sub Enclosures back there but those people usually don't have a Factory Sunroof or don't care that they make it unuseable for storage.

New speakers and an amplifier for sure; Amp will reduce distortion; You don't necessarily need a subwoofer.

Right, there is a small area in behind the radio, that was the factory spot for an amp which I removed when I installed the aftermarket stereo.

Had a big system in my old VW Golf years ago, giant sub enclosure that filled the hatch, amps and crossovers up against the rear panel. Knowing that setup blocked access to the spare tire I had a tire repair kit and an air pump that was easily got to. Worked 16 hours one day and set of at 4 am to drive home, tire goes flat in a totally pitch black area in the absolute middle of nowhere. Get out and shine a dim flashlight at the tire and shit there was about a 3 inch hole in the sidewall, took about 2 hours to remove all the wiring and sub box in the pitch black.
