We have minimal problems with drivetrain. Like anything else, the more doo dads you have, the more issues you can have. I always say get stripped versions on the vehicle you want. The fancy stuff is cool until you need to pay to get it fixed.
That being said. There are things that are now std. that I would never want but are on the vehicle. It is what it is.
No matter what they do I believe they are still one of the best quality car lines.
When I talk to my buddy at Subaru and all they do is motors and have 2 apart at all times it makes you think.

    Interesting.
I read the older Subies had head gasket issues. Family back in Virginia swears by them and hasn’t had an issue yet.

Wife still won’t let me cut bumpers off.
Was thinking on another just to make payments and keep credit up. I know I’ll be shot down. May just get a badass wood stove for barn and make payments on it instead

My friend's wife commutes solo daily from valley into Anchorage...between that and running kids around, easily 1000+ miles a week. Runs an Outback to around 220K miles, sells it off for $2000-3000, buys another and keeps going...been doing that through 3 of them that I've witnessed personally. No big issues.

Yeah, base is 42 miles my house to parking lot. She's going downtown, at least 50 miles or more one way. That's why we have a carpool and thankful for it.

    Morning all

Wife loved her old Forester, but didn't take care of it, it caught on fire because she pegged it for 6 hours straight and it died a fiery death at the top of the grapevine (big long climb from central to southern California) she now has a new outback that is comfortable and she takes better care of.

Does that answer your question about the Rav 4?
