What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

For the record and future reference, PN 90311-35047 is the INCORRECT PN for the front pump seal on a 3.4 auto trans. Toyotaparts deal has it completely wrong and that PN is not even associated with a Tacoma according to other parts sites. Part Number 90311-38020 is the CORRECT PN for the front pump seal, confirmed by multiple sites and a local dealer. Jokes on me, should have checked...will double check anything else ordered from toyotapartsdeal from now on.

Do you have a photo of how you mounted the 3rd gen grill to the back of the 1st gen grill?

 

I did all 4, tore up the boot on the underside trying to get the "lower" 2. I'll play around with the linkage this weekend to try and snug it up a little. Maybe make a makeshift boot for the underside while I'm in there

 

I don't, I can take one for you if you want it, just message me, but all I did was make a cardboard templet of the inside of the 1st gen grill and kept trimming and test fitting the 3rd gen grill until it fit inside of the 1st gen grill, then I just hot glued it in. Well see how the hot glue holds up, if it doesn't I'll epoxy it in.

 

I’m noticing a lot more slop in my shifter lately and feel like I need to get this done. @Captain Magma wanna help?

Thanks, so how do these struts work for adjustments.
I want to keep my truck at stock height.
I believe they come with a preset 2” setting adjustment from the factory.

So what do I need to do for adjustments or preload if anything on these struts to keep my stock height?

 

Just buy a coilover spanner wrench. The only other thing they need is an allen key for the set screw on the adjuster. If you order Kings make sure to get some weaker springs. Like 550 or maybe 600. The stock 650s are way too much for your light little truck.

 

Ok, so do I have to adjusted them to zero setting? Instead of 2”?

On the truck or before the install?
Pre load stays the same?

 

You can do either, the spanner wrench adjusts the coil collar, which will make the preload on the springs less.
If I remember right.

Toytek said it was a 4 hour job to install these and would cost 520.00 to install?

 

500 bucks to swap out the two front coil overs??? You're not missing anything other than money in your pocket if you have them do it for that much. I'd be surprised they charge a regular customer of theirs that much for something like that. I've been surprised before though by business practice

There aren’t really any settings like Bilsteins, just a big threaded tube. Just have them set them to whatever they think stock is, then you can adjust for settling and such
