side question and not spurred by the avalanche that was mentioned earlier....any of y'all have recs on avy beacons? I've been eyeing the pieps pro bt or the pieps dsp sport. (mostly because i have a coupon at black diamond i can use).

I have an OEM parts only clause on mine and it only costs a couple bucks a renewal cycle.

@Gunshot-6A Most standard policies include $2k in add-on accessory coverage. As long as it is permanently attached to the truck. But just a front bumper and set of sliders would eat up that coverage in a hurry. But @Kpatt9 is right, you can increase this coverage very economically. But, you should still verify that on your policy and make adjustments as necessary.

Beaconreviews.com. Anything with over 4 stars is great.
I have the DSP Sport now, and it’s an awesome beacon. The newer pieps/BD models have some more features, but most people won’t need/use those.

Yeah. I saw that website and liked most of what he had to say. I just don't want to take chance on something that I or someone might rely on for survival. Thanks.

I can vouch for the pieps beacons personally. Both the ones your mentioned are really good.

I know the author of that website pretty well, and work with him occasionally. I teach rescue classes for a living, and use a lot of different beacons. Anything on that site with 4 or more stars is good to go. The part that actually matters is practicing with the thing so when the shit goes down, the beacon part is muscle memory.

Sweet. thanks for the input. Yeah, I need to go get some practice in. Would you suggest actually taking an AIARE class? or finding a practice session somehow?

No harm in taking a level one class. Only downside is trying to get in on one of the weekend only ones. Lot of them are like Mon to Wed or Wed to Fri.

Yeah I think anyone who travels in the backcountry should take at least an avy awareness. A level 1 is really worth the time and money investment though. Check out the awareness courses/workshops put on by the avalanche center, and for a level 1 I think American Avalanche Institute does a great job with awesome instructors.

I did find the "Know before you go" classes to be informative. Totally free, and they usually pop up locally on a saturday morning. Last one I went to was at the fashion place mall hosted by Lululemon, and put on by UTAvy

Yeah, I need to find a level 1 class that isn't full.

I don't mind taking some days off in the middle of the week. Luckily I have one of them new-age "unlimited PTO" thingies. that I totally don't take enough advantage of.

Pros/Cons. Pro? Unlimited. PTO. cons? no payout if I quit or get fired.... :(
Honestly, it's better for the company than it is the employee. It's like a sorta perk.

I have 15 days / yr self-tracked since I am salary. So I get the worst of both worlds. Limited days AND no payout. Only perk is you could maybe fudge a day, but you also face reprimand if you get busted.

Those roof racks are surprisingly in demand. And they fit both 2nd and 3rd gens. Can't remember if I sold it to @eltacoutah or a different guy. Either way, I had it up for less than a day.

Did you have to fill any holes or replace any trim?
