So you only have to pass one wire into the engine bay to get to the fog lamps.

Looks like the Spyder kit I bought and put on my 13 Tacoma. I bought a small box and mounted my relay and extra wiring in the engine bay. I used a fuse tap ..Mine has to have the ignition on, but will work on high beam.

Hey, "caribe makaira". I want to know like if I just crimp in a add-a-fuse thing then I don't have to connect to the battery right?

And I can turn them on anytime I wish to right?

Yes, but the add-a-fuse are "usually" a 10A max.

If you tap into an always hot fuse location, then yes. (if u leave them on = battery drain)

But, is 10A enough power to power the fog light? So I suppose to plug in 2 10A fuse into the add-a-fuse right?

And what do you mean by hot fuse location?

I do not know what lights you got. Verify the fuse that the harness brought or the bulbs details.
If the location you selected is a 10 amp circuit, then yes. The specs on most add-a-fuse is that the added circuit (top fuse) can't exceed 10 amps. You could select a 15 amp circuit to tap into. Meaning the bottom fuse is 15 but the top (added circuit) can be 10 amps or less.
Hot = always ON. As in not a circuit that gets turned on & off with the ignition.

The only hot/always ON fuse in the cab fuse box is the power locks. All the remaining ones have juice after the switch is in ACC or ON.

I suggest running the hot wire to your ACC fuse in the fuse block. That way the lights will only be able to be turned on when the key is on. If not you run the chance of leaving them on and running down your battery. And yes mine run hi and low beams since they're on a total separate circuit.

Something similar to this is what i used as my truck wasnt prewired either when i added the fogs.

Like post #28? By the way, that add-a-fuse is not the one he needs or anyone that owns a Tacoma...:burp:

Hey “caribe makaira” did you wired your fog lights on your Tacoma?

if yes, can you send me some pictures of the wiring and fuse locations.

Mine came pre-wired...I just added the lamps, a relay, 15 amp fuse & OEM switch...

If you're going to use an add a fuse in a key switched circuit, it would be better to use 1 of the 20A power window fuses. If you have an access cab, the rear PW fuses are completely wired in the fusebox and unused. Even if you run the power windows and fog lights at the same time, you're still running them off wiring designed to handle a fairly significant load. All the power windows run off the PW relay on the back of the fusebox. The acc fuse is only a 7.5A fuse running directly off the ignition switch. Although you're not running the fog lights off the 7.5A fuse, you're still running them off a circuit designed for a fairly low current draw.

Ok good point. But did you wired your truck or it came prewired? Do the add-a-fuse thing give current, so I don’t have to connect to the battery right?

My Taco came with fog lights. As long as you're using stock 55W fog light bulbs, you should be just fine using an add a fuse in the PW fuse location. If you're going to be going up in wattage from 55, I would add a new fused circuit directly to the battery. That's just my opinion. It's your truck. You are responsible for making your own wiring decisions.
