yeah, I climbed around in the creek and over some large pine stumps around my place in it. Decided quickly that I'm ditching the leafs and going to a 4 link coilover setup with full hydraulic steering. First thing though is to get it to where it starts with the key or button, dragging it with the tractor to start it is getting old.

Well, damn, You are very young, but you have a excellent disposition and attitude about the whole situation. That will be key during your recovery. In other words "You Got This!!"

It'd be silly to say this is a minor surgery, at the same time I don't want to freak you out saying (at least to me) there's no such thing. The doctors might call it that but to me, if you are in a hospital and there will be someone putting holes in your body you weren't born with, that is major.

Not to diminish the severity of it, because I certainly am not, yours luckily is on a part of your body that with some practice you will be able to deal with without affecting your lifestyle too much. Is it going to hurt? Hell yeah! Most of the pain will be frome them doing things to you your body wasn't designed to have done to it. Medication, if you get something adequate, and can take it, will help immensely. Rest though, allowing the body to rebuild itself is the absolute best thing you can do. It's also the hardest. Especially for movers and shakers like you.

I hope you recovery quickly and aren't too frustrated during that period. I know that's like saying "I hope the sun doesn't set today" but try to take it in stride. Oh, here's a tip for you. They're gonna tell you to can't shower for a week or two. Gross right!? Go get some really wide waterproof surgical tape (I used duct). Then get some cheap 13 gal tall kitchen trash bags. Nothing fancy, go to the dollar store. Rip off a couple long strips of tape and put your arm in the bag, and pull the bag towards your armpit. Put a strip of tape around the bag above your elbow. Make it kinda tight. If you need two, use two. Then pull the leftover part of the bag back down towards your hand, and where the fold is at that tape line on your arm put another strip of tape to seal the bag to your skin. You can use scissors to cut off any excess bag.

It will look something like this, only this is store bought and a fortune.

This will keep water from getting in there. It will also allow you to use your fingers on that hand. It's weird but no way was I not gonna take a shower when I had my recent surgery. Again, GROSS!

Or, if you'd rather take a bath, do that instead. I am not sitting in a tub of my dirty water. That's even more gross than not taking a shower for a week!!!!!

If you smiled at least once reading any of this my objective is complete.

I definitely am not waiting 2 weeks to shower! I had seen the store bought version and sort of figured I would make my own version with tape and a trash bag or even some saran wrap. I wouldn't mind a bath every now and then but with one arm healing I don't think getting up/down in a slippery bath tub is ideal so I will stick to showers. Thanks for the advice and I definitely smiled so I appreciate that as well!

Yea, with the whole "opioid epidemic" these days doctors are too scared to give adequate meds. Lame!

I got into an argument with one recently. Basically, my doctor wrote a script, but the admin that sent it failed to realize narcotics required a written version not faxed. She assured me it would be ok when I took time off on my way into work waiting nearly 2 hours for it. So later that day, no notice. I call the pharmacy and just as I suspected, no script on a fax. Now it's too late to get one from the doc. I go to a patient first. The doc there flat out says no. I get my doc on the phone and had it to him. They talk. He hands me the phone and says he will do it but only 5 and for half the strength, to use them wisely and sparingly. We argued over the fact that what he dispenses to the average person does not apply to everyone, myself for instance, who generally weighs 100 lbs more than the average person.

I told him that's like giving a mouse dosage to an angry rhino. Shit's not working!
