Long Range Automotive - Fuel Tank 34 gallon

Mines manual. No issues. Still need to get the upgraded valve. I messaged Ward with my information but never received one.
Yeah I guess it would be a bigger deal if I drove my truck more often however I barely put 5000 miles a year on it now.

 

The original design of the filler neck for the gas tank caused a “burp” when filling up which led to potential fuel spill. It’s been redesigned and this new upgraded valve eliminates the problem

 

Do you know when the upgrade took place? Like what purchase date.

 

Are there any tanks that will work for a 1st gen tacoma?

 

I’m sorry, I do not.

It is my understanding that they only manufacture a tank for the second GEN Tacoma.

 

maybe a year ago, you would know if you have the issue or not. I have it on mine, but mines a few years old and i imported it before anybody had them stateside. Never fixed mine though.

 

~1 year ago. I have the new set up but it still spills 1/2 the time. The longer range is very well worth it.

 

Agreed. It’s a game changer on road trips.

 

I don’t have to plan my stops around the frequent refueling any longer. Now we stop around kids’ nap time, lol.

 

This next trip will be a new “modifier” for me. I’ve gone up a tire size and still haven’t re-geared yet. I have loved everything about the tank. I even put up with the occasional “burping” issues(even with the fix). With all the weight on the truck, I’ve really only been able to retain/regain stock range. On the longer trips I can eek out about a 5 percent increase in range. I still tell everyone I can about how it’s one of my top 3 favorite modifications to the truck.

 

I have had a different experience. On my last long-distance road trip I was able to successfully drive 425 miles straight without refueling. Personal record for me. very pleased overall with the product.

 

Isn’t that about stock range? 19mpgs x 21 gallons equals 399 miles’ish. I get about 415 to 425 with 33’s/Drifter/armor/bed-buildout/winch/all the crap... maybe I am not being optimistic enough? Regardless, this tank is totally rad!

i can maybe, maybe go 400 on this tank if i suck it dry, 300 is about right for me and still have 10ish gals left.

Really? I need to figure out where my signature is and what it says. I never pay attention to that stuff. Probably another reason for me to never do a build thread...

Thats what im talking about! My last long trip I got about 280 miles and the light was on at 260.

 

Valve upgrades and testing are continuing. I'm in line for an upgraded valve. I have the previous plastic upgraded valve but it failed after a few months. There is a new new upgraded version in testing. I'm hoping to have one soon. There is exactly one pump I've found where I can I'll up without spilling...if I set it on its lowest setting. Every other pump is too fast or something. Every fill-up on a road trip is backflow central. While email with cruiser brothers is sort of hit or miss on response time, they have assured me (last week) that they they are working to solve this problem as soon as possible. They want us happy and are working toward that end. Can't ask for much more than that.
