Just about to call it quits for awhile with performance mods and pay some attention to the rear suspension. For now, I've got intake, headers, 70mm throttle body, and cam gears, and an amazing tune from @JustDSM . Question is, would a 170 thermostat from URD Benefit me at all? Not trying to push and limits, but was curious if anyone has seen any benefit with tuning after the cooler tstat.
Also, came across this 160 deg direct replacement. https://www.autozone.com/cooling-he.../duralast-kit-water-outlet/577311_656099_1640

That’s a topic for debate I’m not getting involved in. ;)

I do have a brand new URD 170° kit (and MotoRad 160° spare thermostat) that I’d let go for 25% off what they retail for if you want to give it a go.

One would have to go in and adjust a few things in the tune for new lower operating temps thats for sure. Not sure how much a lower Tstat would help on a street driven truck but thats just me.

It would of course be the master @JustDSM that would perfect the tuning. I just plug shit in. Not ready yet to start tweaking things myself.

With the Motorad and URD adapter, it will work without tuning adjustments.

With the Mishimoto, it flows better or opens sooner, and will need tuning adjustment.

With the Duralast, I have no clue. Only one way to find out. Be interesting if on the t-stat itself, it had Motorad stamped into it.

As a matter of fact, it does. At about $20 cheaper than the Mishimoto! @$40.

That is the cheapest one yet.

really? Lots of stuff needs (from what i can see) to be above 172-180*F ECT for stuff to activate.

Weren't any clear markings on my Mishimoto, as to manufacturer. Just to point out.

Give it a shot and then some feedback.

Typically 168° as far as I can remember in the last. Could very well be 172 for all year models, but I swear in the earlier models it was 168. Doesn't matter. Needs to pass that threshold, whatever that lowest threshold is, not to need tuning modification.

The 170° from URD had a lot of people running nearly identical temps prior to install. Thus others used the Motorad with the URD adapter. Worked without throwing a CEL.

Those looking for the cooling effects of the Mishimoto, are the ones with sleeved engines, and worried about keeping the engine from climbing too high in coolant temp, as it becomes easier with the sleeves.

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
So if I send you an ECU, you can flash the TRD tune on it and then then flash your tweeks via the HPTuner. I pull the UCON and stock ECU out, swap in the flashed ECU and am boost ready? Then I can swap in the 650CC injectors, smaller pulley, and then have you scale for the increased injector size via my own HPtuner unit? Whats the best way to go about this? I don't want to buy two sets of credits.

I am currently running the UCON and Mag S/C. Would like to get the larger injectors running so I can move to the 2.6" pulley.

On my 2013 stock tune its 176*F as a threshold for a "cold" ect is used in a few places From startup airflow adder, to spark advance tables. And in knock learn its 182 min ect.

Needless to say its easy stuff to change but dont overlook it as things might not work as desired.

Correct! I can install the TRD Flash and then tweak it from there.

You can remove the UCON, swap ECU's (and do the immobilizer re-sync) and you'll be good to go! If you have your own MPVI2, I can email you the tunes and you can load them yourself. That way you can install things as you get them and not have to do everything in one go.

There's really a lot of flexibility here that gives the end user some options depending on how comfortable they are with tweaking things. For instance..

1: A ECU could be mailed to me, I can flash it on my end and the end user reinstalls and enjoys the new power/response.
2: ECU can be mailed to me for baseline settings or TRD Tune conversion, and I can install a base map that the end user (you) can further tweak/tune on if so desired with their own MPVI2.
3: I can log into your PC remotely and tune it via your own MPVI2 and credits.
4: A calibration can be emailed to me and I can tweak it for you, so you can load it back with your own MPVI2 and credits. No need to send me anything other than an email.
    5: etc.. etc..

I'm happy to work with anyone, at any level of above. As I realize that not everyone has the computer skills or familiarity of this stuff, and some need a little more help than others. I don't charge anything for personalized service, as I genuinely do want to help this community, and get more involved in making their trucks more enjoyable.

So.. The best way depends on how you'd like to proceed. It's going to boil down to this in the end: If you want to be able to tweak parameters/maps on your own beyond what I give you in the base tune, you'll want to use your own MPVI2 to flash the ECU. If you would like for me to do your tuning, I can flash your ECU and give you flashing permissions, so you can still use your device.

    Hopefully that makes some sense.

^^^And it's all well worth it. Your most recent tune with @nd4spdbh V12 Trans tune and @mightytacoman 3° cam gears has my truck running better than it ever has. Lots of usable power that's helped driving enjoyment and respectable fuel economy for a heavy truck running 33" tires. Win win win! Thanks again fellas.

I feel like it's a little early to tell, as I've been tweaking tunes and actually not driving the truck that much. The next 3 weeks have me in the truck a bunch so I'll report back with this latest and greatest tune and a few more tanks of fuel run through.

Same here. I've been adding bolt ons and had justdsm revise it a few times (major improvements each time) it keeps gaining power. I keep having fun and driving like an asshole, so its hard to tell fuel economy. I'll try and drive it normal for a few tanks and see where I'm at MPG wise.
