...^^^... For the first time in my life ... I have to say ... "there are predators & gangs everywhere, even rural areas now".

The USA has changed a lot in the last 30 years.

My wife has done something like that on both ends... she's met people at home when I'm at work and has gone alone to others homes to pick something up. :frusty::frusty::frusty:

It's alway's good to be cautious wherever you are or go.
But if you think the APD follows that no chase policy you are very wrong.

Most effective “you’ll likely be able to find weed, essential oils, and healing crystals” in this car indicator I’ve seen to date.

If I get my way, back to Australia. But my bride is from Texas and wants to be near her family so we will likely end up in Utah. Closer than Australia but more than a thirty minute drive.

My Miata has multi-factor anti-carjacking protection.

    #1 - it's a six speed manual
#2 - blank shift knob with no pattern shown.

If you're supposed to drive it, you can drive stick and you already know the gear pattern.

...^^^... I hope you are right ... but the Lady Chief at APD says nooooo chases at all. This sparked a big discussion on the talk radio and this was basically said ...
...... "So if an APD LEO saw a carjacking in progress at a local gas station and the car gets away, then APD canNOT chase ?? ... and the answer was NO chase, period.

The APD lady chief was almost in tears when she announced the "no chase policy" a couple of weeks ago after a bad wreck.

IMO and the opinions of others is ... she is giving open season to the crooks.

Oh, the chief also said ... another of her main reasons to not chase was ... the prosecutors were letting the criminals out of jail faster than the police could get back to work.

Your chances of survival are better in the quieter burbs where the local LEO's are still authorized catch the criminal's.

The secret is a small town with a slightly overweight police force, word gets out fast that they’ll likely just shoot than run after you.

APD has it's own Officer training program. Once completed they have to work for APD for a required amount of time before they can leave and go to work for another Dept. They can be released early from this obligation if they have an accident. I promise you some of these officers could give two shits about that policy if they are being shot at during the commission of a crime. I have a lot of respect for the current Female Police Chief. She is a great leader but She cannot control every situation.

...^^^... Your dad sounds like a very smart guy .... good situational awareness greatly increases your chances of getting old.

I would love to find a CD like that to teach my wife and daughter those skills.

I get the ... why are you looking for a sniper on the roof of BestBuy dad ?

I guess the bigger problem are the lawsuits that follow.

I remember years ago some crazy woman in downtown SF was ramming into parked cars with her car, driving on the sidewalk, etc. Police showed up and tried to get her out of the car but couldn’t. So they just decided to shoot her. When the police chief was getting interviewed later some angry group of soccer moms jumped in and yelled at him and said “they were more afraid of the guns than the woman in the car”. Chief got up and left.
