Should I buy pro or off-road?

Looking for input on which trd package to purchase pro vs off-road.

Curious what the highway driving experience is pro vs off-road? I could not get a good feel based on limited test drive.

Tell em u want an extended test drive. Get em both for a week.

 

Overtime yes but not planning major mods until I get a feel. I will mainly be using on logging roads, winter roads and mud in Northwestern Maine.

Also leaning toward manual vs auto

And
Like the look and performance over the OR then buy the Pro and don’t look back

 

Yep, would defintely go with the Off-Toad for your needs, unless your wants are for the Prog. Big thing is $$ and how much you want to ugrade your amphibian

 

Buy the pro. Cry once.

 

I had this debate with myself as well, I went with the Off Road. I'm glad I didn't waste another $10k on the pro when I'm going to eventually mod the truck out pretty heavily. I can survive without the small creature comforts that the pro has.

 

From a fellow Mainer...I went with the OR when I bought in August. Save yourself some money for mods. It does well on woods roads. Ran nicely on my Allagash bird hunting trip. I do need to replace the stock tires. Sliced one on that trip. Too light weight when you get into the roads made with shale.

Every once in a while a member will comment that they bought a third gen and are not satisfied with the engine, transmission, seat comfort, noise level, head unit, etc etc and so forth...

Hope you don’t become “that guy”.

Just my opinion, after you are absolutely sure the Tacoma is a good fit, if you have the coin, get the Pro.

Second...if you have the coin and don't plan on upgrading suspension go for the pro. But if you do plan on upgrades...just get the OR.

Both models are available in Double Cab Short Beds with a Manual so that doesn't make your choice between the 2 any easier.

 

I test drove both and like you, I couldn't feel any difference between the two, so I went with the OR. Since then, I've put about about 4K into new tires (285/75/16), a 2 inch lift and new shocks/leaf springs (all OME) and sliders. I had to pay someone to do it since I don't have tools/garage/driveway/skill. The only downside has been the drop in gas mileage, but I knew that was going to happen.

Last Sunday I was out with four jeeps and my DCLB I made it through every muddy hole and over every rock they did. I could not be happier with the decision.

You would just be paying for an off road sticker.
