thanks. You guys have been great. I have been reading pretty much nonstop for weeks, bouncing between threads. There is a tremendous amount of good info. I have been considering migrating my SC Over to the taco from my FJ and I have pretty much resolved to do so. Now it’s just organizing the process in my head. I have a URD UCON on the FJ. Everything is in good shape, probably replace the intercooler coolant pump and maybe the injectors. I honestly don’t know which injectors I have in there as it was installed before I bought it. What I won’t be doing is bringing over the long tube headers and y-pipe. I know it may sound silly to some but my FJ is so loud it’s not something I want to road trip in as is. It’s a blast to drive, and I loved the sound in the beginning but ya know I want to listen to some tunes every once in a while.

 

Nothing a @Roostfactor true equal length ypipe and a keg muffler from a ram truck can’t solve

 

New bearings went in the idlers when mine did that.

 

ive got long tubes, and a (free) exhaust. 1300w of audio and a love of performance exhaust keep me happy. to each their own. i like max bhp and the rest just is.

Mine are all fresh and brand new, and so was the belt. Literally everything in the serpentine setup got replaced when I started getting that noise because it bothered me that much and I had about 50K on the blower bearings so I figured it was a good time anyways. Chirping continued enough to piss me off, I finally got proactive and started examining things a little more closely. My conclusion was 1/8" of pulley misalignment is enough to cause noise, but not cause the belt to skip teeth or get damaged in the setup. Trippy!

 

Any coolant leaks around water pump’s weep hole? Just thinking outside the box. Coolant on belts will make unwanted noises. I still think your theory makes sense.

 

No leaks. I inspect my junker every oil change to make sure there are no leaks present.

It may be junk, but I want it to be the quietest and the fastest junk I've ever owned.

Upon spacing out my ribbed blower idler pulley 1/8" to match the other idlers spacing the chirping at idle and at mild RPM at take off went away.

 

so today i learned at freezing temps our fmic delivers water to the intercooler about 6* above ambient. probably less because of engine heat on the temp sensor fitting. may put some heat wrap on it to get a more accurate reading. stay boosty my friends.

 

Another member found this. $40 from AutoZone. Best price yet for the 160°, and bolt-in easy. Motorad whole assembly.

what actual operating temps are you getting around town with the 160?

 

Fluctuates between 163° and 188°. Fans kick on, and cools it down very quickly with this 160° Mishimoto. Unlike when it had the 160° with URD adapter. It would rarely get below 174, if I remember correctly. Had to be cold.

 

I’m with ya it’s cool around town but on the freeway for any amount of time it’s just not enjoyable.

 

What’s the temp in Texas? Better yet you must have Haltech kicking on at a certain degree. I’ve been driving around without a fan period last couple days with a high of 40* in Colorado. No stand still traffic. Now I’m curious if that’s bad for the motor since I’m not seeing my temps
