So I just got a new lift installed it’s ome 886 coils with the bolstering 5100s shocks set at the 3rd notch 1.75inchs... the problem I’m having is it seems to bounce a lot I have read that when you set these coils up with these shocks you set them at 0inchs to get 3 inches of lift but I bought them pre assemble from low range off-road so I’m assuming that they did everything right... now I did buy this setup to run a arb bumper that I’m going to put on I’m wondering if this will fix most of the bouncing or do I have a problem... thanks (also pic is an old pic with old setup: bilstein 5100s set at 2.5 with stock coils and 1.5 AAL and 265s)

Your not supposed to put lift springs on any of the higher notches. And the 886’s are meant for additional weight so they should get better with a bumper on the truck

what he ^ said. Sounds like you have them set too high, and the shocks can't compress.

I thought this but I didn’t assemble I bought them brand new from low range off-road pre assembled... I would think they did it right but I guess not (kind of mad though this is literally the WHOLE reason I payed extra for pre assembly)

It’s on the 3rd notch and no I didn’t specify but these were the options So from all the talk I heard about 886 and 5100s they have to be set at 0 to get 3 inches and that’s what I thought

Ok so basically what low range said is that for that shock and coil package that I bought they don’t use the bottom or top notch on the 5100s they use the 2nd notch (.85) for the 2 inch lift and the 3rd notch (1.75) for the 3 inch and they have a chart in there which says the 886 medium load and 3inches and I told them that the coil set at 0 should give u 3 inches and that it being set at 1.75 is making it really bouncy and they just didn’t know what to say other than to put the bumper on and see if it helps.... I am going to be putting the bumper to see if it helps but I’m going to have a shop take the coils off and set the shock at 0 Monday and hopefully I’ll be all good

But I still don’t understand why an off-road place doesn’t know about that or they couldn’t do anything about it

Jeez, even seasoned forum members know not to set anything above the bottom notch for most of the 88x coils. The information provided by that distributor is quite unsettling.

Ok update so I got the bumper on and it did help with the bouncyness but it is still noticeable so I am still getting the coils to sit at 0 inches I took the truck back up to the tire place to get new tires again (they put 265s on and I said 285s and I didn’t notice til I got home) so when I went there to get the tires put on I also told them to take the front shocks off and put them to 0... well they put the tires on but they didn’t want to scratch the coils trying to get them disassemble which is fine I guess I rather have somebody say that then ruin em trying so I am going to get another shop to look at the shocks tomorrow and see if they can do it (fingers crossed they can) my current set up is in the picture: 285s with 1.25 spidertraxx spacers 5100s in the back and 886 paired up with 5100s set up at 1.75... the truck squats a tiny bit and when I drop the coil to 0 should make it perfectly level

Did you ever get them set to 0? I Currently have 887s on 5100s set at the bottom notch. I ordered a set of 886s since I got an arb bumper and winch. My buddy has a set of 886s set at the second notch and has had no trouble. I’m planing on doing the same thing to try to get a little lift with all the weight. Do you think it will help?
