What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Got me laughing

 

I could have sworn my Kings came with 600lb springs but now that I think about it...I'm not sure where I remember reading that info. I'll have to look at my springs and see if it's marked on there. If they are 650 then that would explain why they've always been so damn stiff, even with a bumper on now.

 

I had 600's on my Kings and went with 650's, it is a little stiff now, but not to bad.

 

Well I just put in my order for the kings 600’s rated

 

That tool that Timmy used originally seems to have manufacturing issues such that , and he now recommends this tool as well.

Yeah, I totally understand that approach too, and it's an approach that I use frequently in woodworking where I'd consider myself expert. With the truck and metal, since I still feel a bit more novice, I find myself looking for a leg up here and there. May change over time.

 

Speaking of cleaning,
Nows your time to clean the valves with the plenum removed,
If you have carbon build up it will cause bad gas mileage and lean issues and ping.

My valves are squeaky clean because of the methonal kit I run unlike this other 3.4 motor that is choked with carbon.

Get a flashlight and take a peek in there, if they are full of carbon Marvel mystery oil will Dissolve the carbon overnight

 

I'll see what I see, I guess! I get great mileage and I use Techron products regularly. If they are gunked up how would you apply MMO?

 

I'm fairly certain mine are 600...since you're single cab with no aftermarket bumper weight, you may find them to be stiff. Also depends on if you plan on cranking them up for lift, mine are adjusted for 2.5 inches. If they are too stiff for your liking you can have them revalved which will help. I got mine revalved a couple months ago and it really helped. It's an easy process for anyone that knows how to work on shocks, I know you guys have several members in CO that can do it for you.

I was just being funny with ya yeah I'd keep em too, good backup. There will be a learning curve with the little maintenance items that the Kings will need. I'm very interested too hear your take on the ride of the taco after those new coilovers.

 

That's why I kept my 5100s, easy to swap them in and keep driving while the Kings are getting serviced

There’s probably 100 places in Denver that could do a rebuild/revalve in a couple of days, and adjust the spring if you don’t wanna deal with it.

Instead of shipping them somewhere anyway.
