I agree with the above 10% off MSRP at a minimum. Stop listening to the salesman and start driving the sale.

Thanks for the idea but I forgot to mention that Apple Carplay and LED headlights are must haves if I'm going to buy a new vehicle which would exclude a 2019.

I guess my wording was off. I meant that there are not many 19s left, meaning that there are mostly 20s and they are willing to deal on 20s as it’s the only trucks they have.

A quick search shows that there are 17 2019 Tacomas on lots (all models) in a 50 mile radius of me. In that 50 mile radius, there are 31 dealers. Do the numbers, mostly only 2020 stock.

Ahh I see. In my area according to Toyota's inventory search there are 411 x 2020 TRDs and only 8 x 2019 TRDs left. Looks like that stock is nearly exhausted, I bet someone could get a solid deal on one of those to get it off the lot!

My local dealer hasnt had any 2019s for over a month. They have 101 2020s in stock. They had 140 about 2-3 weeks ago.

    Hello Everyone,

New member here, enjoying this group very much. I ordered a 2020 Army Green Tacoma TRD Pro a month ago which Toyota has accepted. Waiting for my production date from dealer. I live in Philadelphia area and was able to negotiate between multiple dealers $2,480 off MSRP. Did I get a good deal?

Thanks for posting this! Seems like a good strategy, but a bit more difficult for me based on the rarity of the MT along with the packages I'm looking for.

I still think it’s worth a try. Also remember you can negotiate everything interest rate, gap insurance, accessories etc. I wanted to go with the $1000 rebate over the 3.9% at 72months. They first offered 5.7% I told them I wanted lower they said it wouldn’t happen. I politely asked them to go try again they magically came back with 3.6%. So I got a even lower interest rate and the rebate. After that I managed to also get $150 off the gap insurance. It never hurts to ask them drop the price on anything. Be firm but not rude and never be afraid to walk.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
Just checked. There’s 512 new Tacoma’s listed on Autotrader within 50 mile radius of me. When looking for a vehicle purchase, or anything mobile, be prepared to travel to a more favorable market if you want to get the best value, and bring it home. Last year I bought a cherry 78 F150 Ranger Lariat in OKC for $5k. Brought it back to Fla, cleaned it up a bit, picked up a couple trophies at a couple weekend car shows. Sold it for $11.5k.

I got the truck! I ended up having better luck negotiating with dealers down in Portland. I lucked out and two dealers had the same exact build (Cement 2020 DCSB TRD Sport MT, LED headlights, Premium, Advanced Tech), which made negotiating easier but still no cake walk. In Seattle, dealers would flat out refuse to negotiate via email or phone insisting it had to be done in person. By buying down in Portland I was able to say "if you want me to drive down there to pick up the truck, I need a firm negotiated price before hand".

Sticker was $42,283 and they'd already put on their "Green Car Package" which included door edge, door cup protection, and some warranty freebies like complimentary door ding removal, windshield chip repair, etc. that they value at $895 (a lot of margin in there ).

They quickly offered the "Green Car Package" at $0 with a simple ask, and after a few days of negotiating we settled at $3300 dealer discount + $1000 Toyota rebate for a total discount of $4300 or 10.2%. They also gave me a bed mat for free.

The only dealer fee was a $115 doc fee which is allowed per Oregon state law + direct government fees (registration/tabs + sales/use tax). There was no trade in (even with the sales tax offset, it still makes sense to sell privately by my calculations).

Considering how rare the MT trucks are especially loaded up with options I was pretty pleased and love the truck so far! My initial thoughts are:

#1 The LED headlights are INCREDIBLE coming from crappy halogens. I'll never go back! On low beams they light up five lanes of freeway and don't seem to bother oncoming drivers. Auto high beams also work well.

#2 I was a bit bummed that the TRD Sport Premium didn't come with JBL Premium, just "Premium" w/o a subwoofer but it sounds pretty decent.

#3 I am glad I held out for the Advanced Tech Package so I could get the 360 Cameras. Coming from a smaller vehicle it's been super helpful as I live in the city. Even though the truck is a lot bigger than my last vehicle it's easier to park in some ways due to the cameras.

#4 It seems like the volume and previous track / next track button on the left side of the steering wheel is flipped, why isn't volume up/down?

#5 Fuel economy seems as promised so far, I got 22.5 driving up from Portland back to Seattle with some city driving.

#6 I didn't care much for the TRD Sport wheels in pictures but I like them more in person

#7 The swoop motion LED turn signals look really cool!

#8 I like that they put lane departure warning toggle on the steering wheel instead of burying it in the dash or menus.

#9 This is the third manual transmission vehicle I've owned and is by far one of the most forgiving. The previous two were both German cars and I would have preferred to learn on the Tacoma.

Welcome to the forum. Nice taco! Gladstone isn’t the best Toyota dealership in the world but they do usually have good prices. I went there based upon getting the Costco program price, they didn’t have the color I wanted but they offered lower than the Costco price on one they had on the lot. I used their price to get the color I wanted from another dealership so it worked out for me.

Don't be bummed. Those "premium" speakers are tiny. Because you don't have the JBL wiring, you actually have easier upgrade options. I have replaced my JBL radio with Kenwood and the JBL door speakers with Infinity Reference. The difference is night and day.

I know right! Some people here think it's petty but it's really annoying. There is an on-going project to make a new button that flips it, but I just reprogrammed the buttons when I put in my Kenwood (using the iDatalink Maestro). Now my up and down buttons are volume and my left and right are tracks. It's so much more intuitive.

Congrats on the new truck and those headlights are making me jealous.
