Exactly.. So that has had me wondering, what's my best performance exhaust option that's no so loud? You guys got me looking at and I love the @Roostfactor Y but am I jumping back in the same boat? I guess I need to hear it to really know. The vids I've seen on it so far there were a lot of other mods involved. I told myself I was going to stick to just a TRD exhaust or similar this time around, but in my heart I still want my gainz :muscleflexing:

Seems like a Toyota Mechanic buddy of mine said one time that if the engine ran too cool(ie thermostat stuck open) my mpgs would go down as the ecu would kick in to 'Warm up Mode', but I don't know what that temp threshold was.. Ever heard of this?

I think you're gonna be hard pressed to find quiet and performance. You could try the dodge keg muffler, or add a resonator to take it down some...

At 41degF engine coolant temp. the truck will enter Closed Loop fueling and will maintain stoich AFR's

There's a number of ignition timing corrections applied based on coolant temp. however.

Well, after all that back and forth with the shop and getting the exhaust sorted out.. I think I'm going to go somewhere else and have the entire thing re-done from the URD headers back (2.25" or 2.5" piping for the Y, into another 3" collector, and 3" back). I'll cut my own flanges again, and have them make some piping, and throw in the biggest magnaflow that will fit. Although.. I might try something else this go around. Reason being... even if the leaks get fixed.. I think I blew out the Magnaflow. Just got back from power washing the truck for the first time in a while.. and doing some other small tlc things.. and noticed the exhaust sounding even shittier than usual. crawled underneath.. and I could hear the rear magnaflow rattling. banged on it.. and it sounds like something internal for sure. baffle or one of the factory stamped steel seams came loose. It already had a couple leaks in the factory seams.. so I'm thinking magnaflow just cant cut it with the truck. :notsure:

still trying to get this thing back to decent shape and where I want it. still havent even started data logging either.. and need to do pulley's whenever those get sorted out and done. so much to do.

if youre looking for a relatively tame note id say the trd back kit paired with a @Roostfactor pipe. if you need a little quieter a vibrant resinator. just know if youre going for max performance the trd may not be the top performer. i did have the trd and thought it was quiet. my full 3" exhaust is music to me.

Just order a @Roostfactor y-pipe and dump the exhaust after that. I know I’m not running his but I would if @Murphinator didn't sell me his urd for cheap. I still need headers though to get rid of all those annoying cats. Axles and maintenance first though for me

Currently I have Doug Thorely long tube headers, URD Y-Pipes and AFE High Clearance Cat Back Exhaust on My FJ and it rips I just don't want my Taco to be that loud. I know I will be leaving a little power behind, and I'm ok with that.

I was thinking of doing a re-rout of the exhaust to get it up so I could remove that bump out of my skids, it looks like the @Roostfactor y-pipe would achieve that at the same time..

This is why some people have gone to the "keg" muffler. Details are in his thread. All of the gains while still being tame.

Wasnt really wanting to spend a TON of money on it again.. but this might be the best combo I guess. Just depends on if the Y pipe will clear my skids.

Pretty sure it clears the skids, or at least one of them. You'd be best to look through that thread.

I'll take a gander later tonight then. I had to modify my skid already for my current Y pipe. Just had to enlarge the slot/opening for the Y-pipe merge and collector.

Many of us now running the "Keg" have been through this before.
I want quiet performance which is exactly what I have now.
Anyone else with the Keg setup want to chime in?
It has just enough sound to know it's there but not obnoxious at all!

That sounds like what I was looking for. Any links to the 'keg'?

search JFR y-pipe thread. Type in KEG. 2019 or newer dodge 1500 muffler. Single 3” in and out, no duals. Ask local dodge where they send people for exhaust then go there and you can usually get them for free.
