I hope I didn't give any misleading info, and I hope I haven't ignored anyone. Be patient. I need all the help I can get.

I don't think I said the fan is not working correctly. As far as I can tell it's working, but when I don't have the switch set to one of the dash modes (the two on the left) it's kind of hard to tell. That's normal right? You don't notice the air so much when it's on the feet or on defrost. In addition to that I can hear the fan changing speeds. I've never noticed it not working.

When I switched from dash/feet to defrost/feet I noticed the loss of heat right away. It was pretty quick.

Well, I hope it doesn't take three years to solve my problem. An electrical connection is probably the problem, but I'm old and obese and out of shape so it's not so easy to check the connections. I'm hoping to narrow the problem down to one connection and then have the dealership fix it.

It seems weird, but it is my understanding that the defroster does use the AC. Apparently the AC takes a lot of moisture out of the air, and that makes it more effective when defrosting. My question is whether it also removes the heat. I will try to figure out the recirc button. Sometimes when I first start the pickup I can see the light on the button for a few minutes.

The three years is referring to Post 31 where it took three years to locate a bad fuse.

This image is correct at least for my 2012 Tacoma. I just came in from checking it. With the AC off and when you shift to any defrost mode ( circled in red ) the AC Compressor does turn on. The A/C LED doesn't light, but the clutch is engaged and the compressor is running and turns on and off with the evaporator temperature.

Just as described by CurtB/Muddinfun. Maybe try it and not focus on the little A/C led, but pop the hood open and look at what the compressor clutch is really doing. You may be surprised.

Elvis has left the building lol.

This morning I checked the defrost function on my 2010. I can confirm the compressor does indeed activate.

I could have sworn the manual said that the AC came on automatically whenever the defrost function was on but when I looked I couldn't find anything stating that. Regardless, I checked and I can confirm that on my 2005 the compressor does come on when in defrost mode. Just like everyone else's.

I'm a raven so it tastes like me only a little sweeter, you should try a piece.

I'm just glad you all figured out the problem with the OP's truck because that's what counts. Great job people.

DG92071, thanks for taking the time to make a video. I appreciate the effort.

I'm still not sure why the defrost modes don't put out much heat, and where did all the condensation come from. At the end of my five hour drive the heater wasn't producing any heat, and there was condensation everywhere making it both cold and difficult to see.

Could your condensate drain possibly be plugged, so even though the AC is pulling the moisture out of the air, it does not drain as it should eventually be released back into the cab in the form of condensation?

That would be another thing to check. Thanks for the suggestion.

    So to recap:
    1) The fan seems to be working okay.
    2) The heater w/o the defroster is probably working.
    3) The heater with the defroster stops producing heat after about five hours.
    4) I get a serious condensation problem after using the defroster for about five hours.
    5) In the summer my AC also gradually stops cooling after about five hours of driving.
    6) The dealership says there is nothing wrong with my AC.
    7) The light on my recirc button is too dim to see.

I now suspect the problem is with my AC, and recirculation may be involved.
