Then came the 2010 Tundra that I hated so much I only had it for a year.

Don't have any pictures currently at my disposal but these are the Toyota Trucks that I've had in this order:

-99' Tacoma Extra Cab RWD with a manual 5 spd. ( loved this truck so much but unfortunately had to sell it to fund my moving expenses, when I left California for Texas almost 3 years ago.

-91' Toyota Pick Up single cab RWD Auto (first vehicle I purchased when I first arrived to Texas. Bought it off the original owner for $1200 and had about 260k miles. Father-in-law was persistent on buying it off me since he had wrecked his vehicle, only to total the pick up less than a year later.)

-01' Toyota Tacoma E-Cab TRD OR 4x4 (Bought this one after selling my 91' pick up to my father in law. The truck was awesome but the limited space was not cutting it anymore. Sold it in spring of 18')

    - 19' Tacoma TRD OR 4x4 Double Cab (My current taco and by far my favorite Toyota pick up that I've owned. Perfect size and have not had any issues or complaints.)

I was going to school for auto body when I got it, it needed a paint job so I mixed up a sweet pearl color for the flames.... it was white with blue, green, yellow, silver, and white pearl in it... I made a mistake in adding red pearl to it, so it went from white in the dark -> multi color pearl in the sun, to pink... straight up pink all the time. This was in 2002, at the height of the fast and the furious cars.

    Working on it ...
To be frank, I never even knew the term taco referred to the Tacoma. When I first joined this form it took me several minutes to figure out what was going on. I thought how strange everyone keeps referring to the tasty Mexican dish that I so enjoy. It wasn’t until I figured out what the first four letters of Tacoma spelled out. Still thought it A little odd but figured what the heck I can be hip and run with the kids :) . But in public I never use the term and when asked what I drive I will continue to reply, “a Tacoma”. As for the pre-first GEN Toyota trucks being called “Tacoma’s” ... I was told by King Tacoma himself that they should be referred to as simply “Toyota pickup trucks”. :D

    P. S. I am enjoying the response to this thread. Some very nice vehicles both old and new.

Trying to remember the year but the first mini truck I had was a Datsun I believe it was a 64 funny little truck actually had a hand crank in the tool kit. The glove box and the dash were the exact same configuration so the imported trucks had the steering column flipped over to the left side this made the 4 speed column shifter exactly backwards. Instead of an idler arm it had two steering boxes one of course had nothing connected to it. From there is was a couple of Nissans and then Toyotas I think the first was a 1980 any way I'm up to a 2011 all of them have served me well some with an excess of 300K.

What made you ditch the tundra and go back to a taco? And thanks!

Well let me start off by saying I LOVED the tundra. Needed the 4 door capacity and a full size truck bed. Also I was excited about the 5.7l. But after it had 35s for a while and 5100, and flowmasters exhaust and a k&n. The fuel economy kind of just stuck right at 14.5mpg

I think the Tacoma looks better styling wise the manual transmission and fuel economy are the biggest pros to me.
