Thank you all for this clarification. I'm leaning towards this mod now

I just got a pop & lock for my tailgate, as the Leer shell I bought recently had one installed already, I figured it’d be convenient to have everything lock with one button. I got the tailgate one installed and it seems to almost never lock the damn tailgate. It unlocks just fine every time, but 90% of the time it doesn’t lock. The actuator makes noise like it’s going but it doesn’t actually lock it. And of course, every time I take apart the tailgate to take a look at it, it locks every time. Anyone else had an issue similar and can provide a fix?

Don’t have the mod so I can’t help but that seems like a gravity thing. If it work while the mechanism is horizontal (tailgate open) and not when it’s vertical there may be something blocking the handle rod or bracket?

Nope. Because I drop it and tried locking with it put together and still nothing. Again, it works sometimes when it’s shut but it’s random when it will. I’m in Southern California, so it’s not like it’s a freezing issue of it either. Idk if I have a bad unit or what. May just return to Amazon
