This being my first Toyota and Truck, I'm wondering if other 3G Tacoma owners have noticed these things too? So, I'm sorry if these are N00b questions. :smack:

    1. The Speedometer and Tachometer are barely illuminated compared to the multi-function display in-between them. Driving during the day they are hard to read. I have adjusted the brightness setting, but it doesn't make much of a difference.

    2. The passenger seat headrest is angled more forward compared to the drivers seat headrest.

    3. The driver seat feels like its slightly angled and tipping towards the center of the vehicle.

Is anyone else experiencing this with their 3G Tacoma, or is it just my OCD getting the best of me?

That's on purpose so you know to turn your lights on at night and its not much different than how cars have been for a long time. Ever notice all the fools at night with no lights on? Its because OEMs started illuminating the gauge clusters all the time.

    I have not noticed this.

I have not noticed this, although I've noticed it in other cars. You could provide pics that may help.

U adjusted the brightness by using the odometer reset button, right?

Everything else seems a lil OCD. I've never noticed on mine.

Here is a screen shot from a Youtube video https://youtu.be/A62R7vZwIZ0?t=340 I think you can see the headrest nitpick I'm talking about at 5:40. Pictures of the driver's seat might be hard to get because its really minor.

Hard to say without being in person, but I think I see it too. Talk to the dealer if it bothers you enough, there's no adjustment on that afaik, but happy to be wrong.

Edit: I can't see the driverside seat tilt tho

Just wait till you drive it more, and the brightness changes because a cloud is overhead. Mine also flickers brightness sometimes when I let out the clutch / come off the brake. One of my biggest gripes about my truck, for sure. I set the brightness I want, leave it alone! (change when the headlights are on is fine)

Did you adjust the instrument cluster by turning the nob on the dash? I know mine will get really bright if turned all the way to the daylight brightness setting.

Have you read the manual on how to adjust brightness?

Yes, its pretty straight forward. You just twist the mileage reset button/knob

Maybe try and swap the headrest to see if its the headrest or the seat or just perception. the forks may be different angles between the two.

If all that bothers you just just wait till the gauge cluster gets scratched and dust gets in at the ODO reset stem.

I definitely noticed this too. My headlights are on Auto and until they come on it's a pretty dark. Once they are on though then the trip reset knob allows the brightness to be changed with a turn.

No issues with the dash lights or the seat feeling angled. The head rest for the passenger vs driver are different though. Not sure why, I’m sure someone at Toyota could give us a brilliant explanation like they did with why they still use drum brakes. ;). FWIW, I did find it kind of cheap for Toyota not to have adjustable angle head rests when I was looking at them. I guess I just got spoiled with higher end full size trucks along the years.

    This All Day Long.

If you can't see the gauges, time to turn the lights one (manual controls). If the auto headlights are not turning on soon enough, then adjust the sensitivity. Easy.

This has been bothering me for a while, but as long as there's a specific thread to talk about interior nitpicks, here's mine.
On the climate control "MODE" knob:
Why the hell can you set the selector knob between the options?!
In the attached picture, I marked the "proper" settings in green. The spots (on my knob anyway) where it will stop with a solid click, but they don't serve any purpose, are marked in red...

It changes the amount of air going to each part, the green is 50/50, the other is more like 25/75.
