So I recently bought a 16 sr5 4x4. I’ve been taking it off road way more than I thought I would. I live in Florida so lots of sand and water. I’m considering getting an arb rear locker. My question is about my rear axle. What size is it? Is the OR axle bigger? Is my axle strong enough to equip a locker? I’ve looked around but can’t seem to find a clear answer on this.

    What size is it?
    8”

    Is the OR axle bigger?
    Yes

Is my axle strong enough to equip a locker?
    Yes

I’ve looked around but can’t seem to find a clear answer on this.
Get in touch with @ECGS they can quote you for a third member with the locker installed. Bolt in bolt out. You’re looking at ~2k for parts/shipping/compressor not including labor.

Does the OR automatic have the same axle ratio? Would it be easier or cheeper to get a junkyard OR axle swapped in?

The bigger ring gear is a new for 3rd gen thing. The rear you have is what they've been using for years. It's plenty strong.

i recently had ECGS build me new front Clamshell and rear diff for my 2019 SR5 4x4. I opted for 5.29 gears and Harrop E lockers front and rear. Havn't had the chance to wheel with them yet as i just installed the diffs last week but i've been very impressed with ECGS build quality and customer service so far.

Not too bad. only got about 60 mi on them so far, been super babying the truck. used ECGS recommended Lucas non synthetic oil. Initial drive was only about 10 min 2.5 mi, cool for about 1 slow beer. second drive was the same. cool for another brake bleed session. then third drive was longer about 20min and cooled for the night. since then i've just been making trips to and from work which is only about 10 min 6mi down the highway. I've been doing some short drives after work as well. I need to drive some more. Maybe start to stretch my trips out longer this weekend.
