I know the feeling and it sucks. Best to start it and let it idle and do a visual, then you should be good to go.

Might have to use the wrench to take it off if you got it on there monkey tight

On the 2RZ and 3rz its easy if you drop the skid plate. Just go straight up at it from underneath, tight as possible by hand.

My first time I used a wrench. Never again. Had to take it someplace the next time after I struggled to get the filter off and crushed it in the process.

What was weird is on the ram I started it and gave it gas in park a couple of times and no leak. once I put it into R and gear is when it leaked. I made sure to take the 5 lug round my apartment parking lot after the change and no leak so I knew it was gtg. Thank you for the info! I hate being ignorant lol

I have 5 lug so no skid plate. Maybe it's actually easy and I'm just a baby lol.

Hoping mine isn't too tight, but I ALWAYS put old oil around the seal to make sure it doesn't seal up and be unable to be removed. Fingers crossed I'm gtg but well see

Yeah go from underneath, drive up on ramps first if you need to. Easy peasy since you don't have a front diff in the way. I find the best type of filter wrench to get it off is the 3 jaw claw looking one that you use with a long extension and ratchet. No good way to use a strap wrench on that filter.

I’ve struggled to get Toyota filters off after hand tightening. I don’t know if the seal swells up and puts weird pressure on the thread or what.

It’s actually probably due to the fact that ima bitch

Fingers crossed I'm GTG. might try to check it this weekend if it'll budge then, but after driving 300 miles up and down a mountain I'm sure whatever swelling could have happened; did happen at this point

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
    Mpg is the issue.
11 mpg is bad enough already. Now if someone made some manual hub ends that fit the tundra cv axles, that’d be the ticket. The spindles can use the Tacoma manual hubs.

I see your point there. I wonder if one of the companies like Moser who makes custom shafts could take a tundra CV and turn it down and respline it for the manual hub. Ain't be cheap I bet but I believe it could be done

Ditto. More of a pain to rummage through the garage looking for an acceptable drain apparatus then it is to be prepared with a roll of paper towels. :notsure:

not to get it on, but snug it, yes.

It'll be me who gets to break it loose. If I broke my rear diff loose after fighting it a couple weekends by hand when others have had to use more "invasive" methods; I'm fairly confident I have the "umph" to get this bastard loose. BUT, we shall see

I always just hand tighten my oil filter and hand loosen it. One of those rubber jar lid openers helps loosen it if your hands or the filter are oily

If you live in an older house, put it together in the babys room. I did my buddies, had it all together and the stupid thing wouldn't fit in the doorway. Took the door off and it just barely cleared.
