The Tacoma is not CANBUS, so no bulb out warnings to worry about.

That's what I figured. I had an issue with my 2000 Tundra. It was H4 with the Motocontrol harness. Had to use a 50ohm resistor on the right headlight socket to restore high-beam functionality since it didn't detect the bulb in place. I need to get the bi-xenon harness idea out of my head. Working with single xenon harness on these trucks!

Available on ebay out of Europe. The GE Xenon +120s are a little higher in peak intensity output than the +130, and the Xenons are available domestically. The Xenons are a little warmer in color temp though.

That's good to know. I think I'll add relays when it gets warmer out.

I was able to pick up a pair from Amazon about two weeks back. They sold out right away but keep an eye there for them

 Thanks for all the great info here @crashnburn80 ! The GE 130’s H11 lows are such a huge upgrade over stock bulbs. I now have a super crisp cutoff and so much better distance lighting driving around crazy Los Angeles. Transients and people are always running out into the streets around here, now I can see them! The Hella H9 highs are also a nice improvement driving up on dark mountain roads. I only run fog lights in fog, haven’t got to use them yet, but I love that I could pull a 130 for a low if needed. Osram reverse lights are brighter in the camera and with tinted windows. Thanks again! Can’t stress how much the GE 130’s made me enjoy driving the truck at night again in LA, stock bulbs just felt dangerous navigating the chaos around here.

Damn that's crazy, I wonder if the 2020 LED Tacoma's will have an icing up problem?

Sorry for any misleading information! The Hellas tested better than the Osrams based on my data, which I thought Osram was stock based on my 2nd Gen. In 3rd Gen Toyota used Philips as a supplier for the high beam. The Philips tested better than the Hellas. The GE +130s and Gy6.35 HIRs are both huge gains over stock.

The OEM LEDs will ice over as well.

No worries Crash... I installed all these last summer based on most up to date data on the thread at the time. Just got around to posting a thank you! It sounds like I should switch my current high beam setup from the Hella H9's back to the stock Phillips H9's?

Honestly, it doesn't really matter. The light an LED can get through an icy lens is about as useful as a clear lens in inclement weather, which is to say, not very. The short wavelength seems to reflect off wet roads more than halogens, making it hard to distinguish paint lines. The white light also lights snow up so bright that it's hard to see anything other than the snow. I'm an advocate of LEDs, and I still love mine, but I'm not afraid to admit that they suck in bad weather.

Anyone running a boosted H9 in the high beam with a relay harness? maybe 85w-100w or so? Would love to give the LED in halogen reflector guys a nice little surprise.

Not on the Tacoma. There are aftermarket heated LED headlights available for standardized sizes like 7" round and 200mm, but they don't fit the modern Toyota trucks.

The difference is small, but the Philips are higher output based on my measurements.

No reputable manufacture makes such a bulb that I am aware of. Keep in mind the stock H9s are 74w, as the legal limit on an H9 allows for +/-15% in wattage from the 65w rating. The Philips bulbs are pinned at the top end of that +15% limit. Your best bet is to add aux SAE driving lights and tie them into the high beam circuit.

Not always a direct correlation between watts and lumens and I think you're using 13.8v while U.S. standards are all measured at 12.8v, so there's that.

XenonDepot XTR XV2 bulb vs Phillips H9. 15ft. Will adjust when I get other bulb in. Where is everyone mounting their passenger ballast?

@mynameistory I don't know if you're on toyota-4runner.org, or the 4runner subreddit, but if you were to post those light mounts up and detail how they're to be mounted, I'd bet there'd be enough interest to be worth your time making some more. Very slick install, especially getting them up so high!

I'm on both, I might consider it. The trouble with low production runs is that they almost always cost more per unit than most people are willing to pay. I'm also going to cut these on a plasma table, which isn't the best edge quality. If I decide not to try a run, I might just release the CAD file for people to have their own made.
