this forum is the worst and the best at times. I took a break for like 3/4 months and literally no problems with my truck at all.

I came back a few months ago and cant get shit out of my head. Its soooo dumb.
someone makes a post about a leak or something, and there i go at 11 o clock at night with a flashlight under my truck.

Never in the history of owning vehicles have I gotten under a truck as many times as I have with the tacoma, since joining this forum.

I really love the QOL changes members come up with, and if it wasnt for that, I would have logged out and never logged back in months ago. lol

Yes, that bad head sucks. But seriously, is there ever really any "bad" head?

OP, is there anything you are not telling us about how the truck was used? Are you a casual driver or did you bounce it off the rev limiter on the trails 2 weeks ago? Not pointing fingers at all here, just trying to get a better picture of what led up to the failure.

Imagine thinking it's bad to bounce an engine off the rev limiter periodically...

Yep, the cam journals don't have bearings. Tear one of those up and you have to get a new head. Not that it would happen on a Tacoma, but other makes have had issues (Subaru comes to mind).

The truck is used as a rural mail carriers rig, My wife drives it, she is 55 years young never off road, but a lot of stop and go from box to box. She babies this rig,Washed every week, all maint done at 5000 mile intervals. Also used to get groceries from time to time.

Just an idea, because of the stop and go use of the vehicle, could it be carbon buildup on the valves?

UPDATE, Well I put eyes on the motor this morning, It was pulled from the truck,If I knew how i would post pictures from my I phone. There were parts all around the vehicle from removing the engine. The block and head were up on the bench. The Tech showed me a bad valve guide on CYL#3 All else looked good but there was a lot of play in that valve guide. They ordered a NEW head for the engine so its gonna be a few days in the shop.I guess I was just the lucky guy to get a bad part as he tested the other cylinders as well and all passed the leak check as well as compression. So no big deal a new head and we will still be under warranty for close to another 40,000 miles. The reason I posted this was that there would be some info in a search for trouble code P11EE.This might save someone some time when the dealership tells you they cannot find anything wrong.Toyota immediately told them to do a leak test so I am sure I am not the first or only to have this happen. From this point on Ill keep you posted if there is more trouble down the road.
