Dumb question probably but is the horn on the Tacoma sound pretty weak to anyone else? Some idiot cut me off today so I laid on the horn and it sounded like a clown horn.

I mean, it's just a horn. It's not the War Rig. Honking at someone who cut you off does nothing anyway.

Be careful if you change them out. This single disc horn pulls more current than both of the OE horns combined. \/ \/ \/

Do different trims have a less loud horn? Mine is pretty loud.

Mine is pretty loud too. I see you also have a Sport, maybe the scoop enhances the acoustics of the horn. :D:D:rofl:
And they say the scoop has no function:crapstorm:

Same, sounds decent, too. My OR came stock with two horn drivers, so it seems to have a dual-tone full sound. Not sure if other trims differ. OP, does your truck have two horns behind the grill?

Mine sounds a lot louder than my wife’s Prius horn.

Ok I’m going to come right out and say it, the horn sounds like a giant queef. Like I would assume that Subaru sounds. Maybe it’s just what they put on the SR or maybe mine isn’t working properly?

Mine sounds like a nun farting in church. I've told my wife its like tapping someone on the shoulder and whispering "Psst, excuse me sir, if it's not too much trouble could you please step out of the way. KTHXBYE"

Honda horns are the worst, subaru too. My friends and I call them bitch horns because you aren't insulting anyone with a horn that high pitched.

I run these in my police package crown victoria:
    http://www.piaa.com/store/p/392-Automotive-Superior-Bass-Horn-330/400Hz.aspx

According to my math, each one is about 35W. I was considering getting a set for my tacoma...maybe I'll wire in a separate switch with a relay if I do lol.

Also, to the OP, these sound like an old school Caddy if that's the sound you're looking for.

Very popular mod for the wrx crowd. I never got around to it when I had my old car and eventually learned to love the “cute” horn

they really NEED a relay. Otherwise you summon the electrical demons to haunt you.

Yup, I remember seeing on YouTube that Toyota so graciously deletes the low-tone horn from the SR trim.

    Lol

Hmm, seems us TRD folk are united here..

    How charged was the battery?

That seems to be the demeanor of Subaru drivers in general.

Ah, OP finally cracked it. You have either the bracket or the hole for the bracket. The SR5 and up dual-tone should mount right up. The Hella ones look cool, but people might be surprised to hear a pickup that honks like a Japanese car.

So us SR guys got the baby horn. It's not the high pitched Eric Cartman AAAHHHNNNNTTT sound like some older imports. It's more like a medium pitched toooooot.

Pretty damned weak for a truck. I just wave my arms wildly like a maniac.

Snag a dual-tone horn from a junk yard. I pulled one from a wrecked Cadillac and put it in my Mazda 323 way back in the day. It was a very cheap upgrade.
