A simple and obvious answer often gets ignored by the masses. I've installed many 530T's and they're reliable AF.

    @4xdog CONFIRMED :mad:

Circuit board is different. Switches are the same unlike other variants. May look at the pin assignment to see if it's still doable.

Our pcb uses 13 of 15 pins. Sequoia uses 11 of 15. Some pcb markings are identical & obvious and could be repinned while a few are not. So unless one knows what LIN, LED, (locks?) & +B refer to, it's a no-go.

Sorry for getting any hopes up.

When I looked into this using Toyota Camry or Corolla switches, I figured out that those cars control all the window functions with the BCM. The door switches just tell the BCM to "do this". The BCM then does the auto up, down, etc. Don't know about other Toyota vehicles.

Someone mentioned the Prius does this. And I know my 4Runner does this as well. I can enable/disable the auto feature on any window through the OBDII port.

Yeah, it woulda/coulda been a great solution.

I'm wondering if some of the switch guts are transferable. The fact that the earlier APDTY switch *did* have up and down auto makes me wonder if our existing switch block can be modded with a different physical switch.

There's a relay and some electronics in the Taco switch to do the auto down. It would take another relay and more electronics to do auto up, or auto down on the passenger side.

My 2003 Double Cab had a DEI Matrix 3.3X alarm system in it when I got it two years ago. It had parasitic drains that would flat the battery in two or three days. The remote was heavily worn and replacements were not available. Perhaps the installation was bad -- I never tried to troubleshoot it. I simply took it all out and put it back to original, and filed DEI as a company not to use in the future.

So, indeed, that solution is being ignored by this member of the masses.

Sequoia pcb has over 2x the circuitry of the Taco's & has 2 Auto UP/DN switches as seen in the pic. Only way to make it work would be pin reassignment. I will play with this more since I have the switch but am doubtful I'll get anywhere.

In 36 years of professionally installing I have never had any DEI product cause excessive current draw. I've used DEI products for so long that I installed the first Viper alarm that was installed in San Francisco, 1987 I believe.

After I posted that comment I noticed someone wrote something like "looking for factory plug and play options and not DEI" or something like that.

The immediate problem with a plug and play kit with a factory power window switch is that a harness plugs into the switch and that plugs housing is also the switches housing which means either the other half of the plug has to be scratch built and appropriate pins purchased before a person can even think of building a plug and play kit.

The only other option is to custom build a switch out of donor switches and that gets expensive quick because it requires several switches to make a complete unit. 7 switches for a 4 door, 3 switches otherwise. Chances are you're going to want to have those switches backlit as well so now it'll need either a custom harness coming out the side of the switch or configure it into the existing switch. Don't forget you'll need to offer that backlight in different colors. By the time a working switch is built for a 4 door you've purchased $150+ in cheap chinese knock off switches, plus the pins, wire, hours of research, hours of labor, and an extremely limited number of buyers due to purchase price and lack of buyer confidence. Plus you gotta consider the warranty factor and having used chinese knock off switches.

I'll get to it, eventually. I'm hoping someone beats me to it. Lol

How many window switches on the Sequoia unit have auto down? It doesn't look like the Sequoia unit is backlit.

2 fronts are AUTO UP/DN and LED lit. 2 rears aren't. But only on fancier Tundra/Sequoia models. I think base models are the same config as Tacomas.

The boxed text "LHD AMBER" tells you it's lefthand drive & lights are amber colored. 1 micro LED is next to each front switch.

On those the actual switches & plugs were totally different from the Tacoma's.

So the Sequoia uses a 3rd style thickening Toyota's plot to foil us at every turn... o_O

So the Sequoia switch seems to be a hybrid between the other 2 styles. Looks like some functions can be re-pinned to work but others are directly controlled by the ECU. There's no direct pins for the locks or passenger window. As-Is it's a No-Go. @4xdog The right rear window pins are identical, probably why they worked one way for you.

Don't suppose you'd pop it open and post a few pics...

I can say the Sequoia AUTO switch is identical to the Taco's. The UP & DN detents are in the swivel button but unless the pcb is configured to respond to it nothing will happen.

nazlax's original link shows $227 but now it's $35??!? Clearly not the same item today. Curious what people paid 2 years ago.

I don't have one of the original APDTY switches, @aktaco12. But you're right on -- a peek inside one of those to see how the auto up/down is configured would be important to know.

Do you recall if you looked at the 2002-2006(?) Camry switch? It is the exact same shape and has the exact same plug as the Tacoma. I believe the Camry XLE model (only the XLE) has backlit switches so that's half the battle for me, the other half being auto down.

I'm OK with no backlight, but I'd really like driver-side auto up, and it would be nice on passenger side, too.

I don’t remember what year it was, but I remember it looking similar to the Taco and that’s what got me looking into it.
