Thanks - this is great info and it set me looking around for more. My number does have a letter as the 3rd of the last 6. But, I also learned that, apparently, the first two numbers of the last 6 identify the week of projected build. Mine are 03 which, assuming that January 6 was designated as the first build week of the year, my projected production date of 1/22 matches up. :)

In any case, I'm having fun finding all the info I can.

My 2 numbers are 41. So, if that were 100% true, I should have gotten my truck back in Oct/Nov.

Well, so much for the accuracy of that post. When are you scheduled for build?

1/28. And the dealer says it might take 4-6 weeks for them to receive it.

So here is the printout that I got from my dealer when I was waiting. As you can see, there is an interim VIN, and a separate allocation number. I cannot say if it is coincidence or not, but the 42 before the letter in the last 6 of the interim VIN, when compared to the build date of 10/18, does jive with 42 being the week of the year for the build date. I received the truck on 11/5, 2 days early. As I stated in an earlier post, the interim VIN changed to the permanent VIN that is now on the truck about 48 hrs after the build date. You can also do a lookup of that interim VIN on the Toyota Owners app and website, I believe. On the Southeast region distributor website, it would even show the estimated availability date (dealer eta on the form), which would plus/minus every couple of days.

Interesting that yours was aligned and mine, at least for now, seems to be aligned with those numbers in the temp VIN. I looked mine up on the site and it's there with a spec sheet but nothing else about projected date, etc. Thanks for the info!!!

Welp, my truck was built today. I’m pretty surprised as I was thinking the end of the month. I too had a “dummy VIN” until Monday when the actual VIN was assigned. Then on Tuesday, the build date was updated to 1/27. All that to say, it won’t be too long for many of us that are having AG Tacos built this month.

WOW! Congratulations!!! The way your projected date was bouncing around I thought you’d have a later build. Glad it rolled on time. Maybe they have a run of AGs going and we will all get lucky...or maybe I’m just way too anxious.

Yes sir. Thank you. I know today is the first day of production for the AG and VB since the two month “hold”. Yours is just around the corner :)

Do you happen to remember the pre-production number for your Pro?

I don’t remember it, however it’s back at my office. I can shoot it your way on Monday if you’d like.

No sweat - I was just wondering if it held true to several others where the first two of the last six digits equated to the production week - yours would have been 02.

I checked on the pre-VIN today on Toyota's VIN lookup site. Last week it showed the build spec sheet. Today it says the VIN is invalid - so I'm thinking an actual VIN has now been assigned. At least, that what I'm hoping!!

    From my salesman today.

"Just wanted to let you know your Tacoma was built today in Texas and is going through its quality check at the factory. Once that gets done it gets assigned a rail car to head this way.

I will know more once it leaves the factory.

    Excited yet??" <<<<<< Silly Question!:dancingbacon:
