Looks good, but I think you're still a tick high on the aiming based on the lack of foreground lighting. Remember, a fog beam pattern is for foreground and side to side lighting more than distance. And if you aim fogs too high, you'll bother oncoming drivers.

Just thought i'd add my 2 cents. I got a really good deal on some brand new Morimoto Type T amber fog lights. Very... underwhelmed by their performance. The beam is too narrow. I will adjust aim a little higher but may end up in the buy / sell / trade section.

The Rigid SAEs have over 2x the output intensity of Baja’s SAEs. So even if you put the amber covers on the Rigids which cut output by 50%, the Rigid’s with the covers are still higher in output intensity than Baja’s SAEs.

Agreed on the very narrow beam of the Morimotos. If wanting true amber the KC G4s are a much better option, they have a larger pattern area and a fuller spectrum of light in the amber color as tested in post #588.

Was just one of those "oh Morimoto amber fogs for cheap. I'll try them" moments. Brand new and for the price, i couldn't help myself lol. Will possibly look at picking up the G4's. I'll adjust when i head home and try them again. If it doesn't help i'll pull them off and sell.

I wish I had a set of Rigid Saes, I threw the amber covers on my D2 dually driving pattern lights, a pillar mounted. Helped out more with ditch lighting than down the road. I have them aimed forward and level, the clear covers (duh) are pointless to even try with fog. I'm waiting for someone to get a set of BD Lp4s, still learning towards Xl80s. I'm hoping that Diode Dynamics will have the kit out for my F150 in a few months, the Pros look ridiculous compared to BD fogs.

Another note has anyone seen a set of the Diode Dynamics sae driving and spot to compare them in real world situations? Still thinking BD just to run a amber cover on my driving lights if I want it or take cover off for maximum light output, with the option to just change the lens when I want

This thread is all SAE, once you are 'offroad' and know when to turn lights on and off there are a ton more options.
BD are my favourite, between performance, ability to swap lenses, and customer service they have been great to me.

I like the Lp4 as well but need rock covers for on-road, XL series makes more sense in my province.

I know this is a sae light thread but there's a ton of guys that have awesome experience with lights. I'd rather buy once cry once than go through many sets of lights. I see a nice Tacoma earlier that was set up for overlanding. He had a bunch of BD lights, wish I could have talked to him but busy at work.

They’re going to tell you know. As me how I know, they don’t discount anything unless it’s a sale period for all their vendors to keep things fair.

if you need a kit though I’d be happy to help ya out

I have both the driving and spot optics, the driving is a wider pattern than the spot but lower intensity as one would expect. Is there any specific info you are looking for? If you compare the Rigid D-series Pros to the DD SS3 Pros both in driving pattern in the specs:

    D-Series Pro Driving (white)
    Raw lumens: 4752
    Horizontal beam angle: 51 degrees
    Lux at 10 meters: 231

    SS3 Pro Driving (white)
    Raw lumens: 5796
    Horizontal beam angle: 18 degrees
    Lux at 10 meters: 665

The SS3s are spec'd at higher raw output, the horizontal beam angle is narrower so the SS3 pattern will have higher intensity and project further but not cover as wide of an area as the Rigid D-series Pro driving lights.

In the SS3 the spot has a horizontal angle of 6 degrees, so it is quiet a bit smaller than driving, however as a result the peak intensity is 2~3x higher than the SS3 driving pattern.

I've had DD SS3 Pro selective yellow's in for about 3 weeks now. I've had an opportunity to use them on the highway at night, and in inclement weather, as well as clear conditions, and in the daytime, and I've been flashed by oncoming traffic once. The factory fogs would have gotten me flashed I'd bet 10X if I'd used them in the same situations (probably aimed high). They are very intense, but can't be that offensive to oncoming traffic.

What can you do for the SS3 pro in amber?

The SS3 pro appears to have a higher intensity towards the center of the beam which might be why overall output is significantly brighter than the BD SAEs. Left is DDSS3 right is BD SAE.

The Pros also have a much wider horizontal projection angle than Baja. The Pros optics are far more advanced and efficient and the light has over 2x the output, giving over 2x the peak intensity vs Baja. However, the Baja’s have maximum legal uplight/glare. In your photos the Pros appear to have more light above the cut off than Baja which is designed to be 10% below max legal SAE spec (10% below to allow for manufacturing tolerances). Look at the header/threshold above the garage door. Looks far more illuminated on the left vs right. Granted the out door light throws the photo off a bit.

I think it's the angle from which the pic was taken plus looks like there may be another house light just to the upper left. Still a decent comparison picture.
