Anyone know of a decent Toyota mechanic in Southern California, emphasis on LA County? Id like to have someone to take my 95 4x4 to for those bits of maintenance or repair I cant do.
    Thanks!

I'm in the same boat. I haven't had any work done yet at a mechanic besides the recall at the dealer. But here is what I found:
Toyonda great guy, takes his time to explain what needs to be done. His not cheap, I've taken my civic there for years. The last straw was the quote for a timing belt exchange 400 dollars for labor only. But I might just go with him since he is the only one I trust. He carries all honda and toyota fluids thats he uses. http://www.yelp.com/biz/toyonda-auto-repair-whittier

if you need transmission work his all the rage for transmissions: http://inglewoodtransmission.com/jm/

There is another shop in Alhambra works on any cars and their yelp are all 5 stars. Their price is decent, but it's to far for me.

And there is a user here on the forum his name speedfreak(username) does work on the side. Prices are great but his in san diego. I was trying to make it work so he can do my timing belt. But that will mean I will have to ask for a day off.....

    Anyway keep me posted.

YotaMasters in Corona. They are the best around with very reasonable prices. You gotta make an appointment though cause they are always busy. The best part is they also specialize in off-road / lifted rigs, best of both worlds.

For Los Angeles, I go to lextech in Silverlake, very knowledgeable and great prices. I have heard good thinks about lexology, I think they're near longbeach.

Super expensive I got quoted 700 dollars for labor only on a timing belt change.

Any new leads for a mechanic in the San Diego area? Truck shop in Miramar area is great but they are a little pricey on labor. I need to have my ball joints replaced in a 1st Gen Tacoma. I would be willing to go somewhere else or even hire a competent mobile mechanic.

Lower ball joints are easy to do...if you were in the LA area I'd help you do it. As for shops in the SD area..I dunno. Maybe @Prayn4surf or @desertjunkie760 can point you in the right direction

RPM Garage in Monrovia seems to be a go to shop for a lot of off-roaders. Maybe a little closer to you than corona?

Any good stealership that offers discounted prices on parts? From when we need to go every blue moon? Even with the oil change coupons, it's always... "Your truck needs brakes, tires and alignment and has possible oil leaks, $5,000." Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah, NO!

Victors in Gardena, south bay area. It doesn't look pleasant but they do good work, upfront with your situation, reasonable pricing. Best of all, they stand behind what they do. They're pretty busy always so don't show up thinking they'll be able to take your task right away, you might have to set it up for a later date.

I've had them do things I don't want to do or own the tools to do like replacing a transmission, oil change, suspension work, pretty much everything.

Another vote for RPM Garage, I live just down the street from them and take my truck there for an alignment regularly. They do a fantastic job with lifted trucks, shop is owned and run by Toyota enthusiasts. Always a ton of Tacomas, Landcruisers and 4Runners parked there and on the streets near it.

RPM Garage quoted me $450 for timing belt and water pump labor the other day when I inquired
