I don't remember the weather being as extreme as it is now though. I remember it getting cold sooner and staying cold, but not as cold as it gets now. I remember it being in the 20's and teens from like December to March. But I don't remember that many days where it was deep in the negatives.

Maybe it was just my perspective then to now.

Nice! Longest stay with any company I have ever had was six and a half years. In the industry I work, 18 months is the average stay. In the past 5 or 6 years I've pretty much averaged that.

They don't do that here. They barely even called it off today and it was legit ice rink in the morning. It has to be like negative thirty or snow more than a foot.

I currently at my longest at 4.5 years. Others were 2 and 3.

I’m convinced you gotta move every 3-5. If not, hire me cuz I wanna see it lol

Yeah. I think you are doing yourself a disservice if you do not move on at least every three to five years. Regardless how "good" you are you will not get the kind of raises you get moving on to a new position. I haven't made a move in the last 3 years for less than a 15% raise. This is in IT anyway. I know nothing of other industries as I've been in IT the last 13 years or there about.

PS. If you are willing to move, there is a place at the company I work for, for you, regardless of where you're at in IT. But you'll have to be willing to get Secret Clearance. There are so many job's out east its fucking silly. There are lots of jobs, good pay (100k+), elsewhere. But, the Virginia's, the Carolina's and anywhere around there are HUGE in IT and especially Cybersecurity right now. I haven't had a notification from LinkedIn since I started here with less than "We found 30+ Jobs with "X Title" in the US.

hmmm we may have to chat. Pretty sure my next move needs to be towards AWS/Azure/networking/security something like that. Currently primarily VMware/VDI/DR/SAN/storage which is all dying quick it seems.

I’ve been poking around a bit the last few days and there is soo much stuff out there, unfortunately quite a bit of it is ridiculous requirements / expectations and like $40k salary for it. I’ll definitely take a look if you’ve got something.

I will shoot you a PM with my email and shiz. Cybersecurity is super popular and only getting more so. A security+ cert from comptia can get you a long way.

To your last point, that shit is ridiculous. I lived in that space until earlier this year. But I cracked the code. As to not write a novel I will resist going down that rabbit hole here.

Yup! They call it salt and brine, but I call it a Tacoma-eating hell chemical!
