That's what he had done, the inversion. Seems like it went well. He'll get to go home today, and that's when the pain starts. He's fairly bionic at this point... Knees, other shoulder, an ankle, his neck. He used to race boats when he was younger and had a few nasty crashes that have caught up with him in his later years. Anything will be better than what he was dealing with. He had gotten to where he really couldn't move that arm very much at all. So, we'll see... He should be much better than before.

I had two of the four rotator cuff tendons reattached last February, and one failed. I'm still pretty good, but my ortho mentioned having that surgery somewhere down the road as an option. Good luck to your FIL!

Damn! I resemble that remark,,, unfortunately. I have one unattached that failed to stay stuck the first time, then the second time he could not stretch it far enough to reattach. I have about 3 lbs of weight that I can lift above my shoulder on that side. He mentioned the replacement also. So far I have just lived with it as my understanding of that replacement is that there is quite a large chance of serious suckage.

But to @imthejaybird, keep us informed.

Will do. For some perspective on what my step-dad has endured relating to joint replacement, let me tell you briefly about his ankle. It's been atleast 10 years ago now, but he fell off of a ladder(one of those foldable Little Giant style turds... It folded up with him on it) and shattered his ankle. Looooong story short, they had to do reconstruction to get it all back in alignment, but because of the extensive bone damage, a lot of it died and had to be removed. This lead to what basically amounted to a 3d image scan of the good bone that was left and them machining a titanium ankle joint to fit. It was a very long process to get to that point, and a bunch of surgeries. So, when I say this shoulder thing should be no big deal for him, once they manage the pain, this is why. He's already been through a serious level of hell. But he's a tough old man and nothing seems to slow him down, so I'm confident this won't either. The worst part will be keeping him from trying to work on his car before he's healed up.

How is he doing? I hope his recovery goes well. I was shocked when my doctor told me about elbow replacement and how it severely limits the weight you can carry etc. I would have thought it would be the opposite.

I haven't heard an update yet this morning, but Mom said the surgery went well and they did everything they needed to do. He's in his 70's, so there's absolutely no reason for him to test the weight capacity of this new hardware. That doesn't mean he won't try, but he shouldn't...

Yeah I can imagine that if he's familiar with surgeries like this he is probably going to be a lot better prepared for what recovery will require of him.

Damn insurance isn't going to cover my CPAP. I'm scared to find out how much it will cost me. I still need to buy and fix a couple things on my truck as is if I am going to wheel HF in Feb. Otherwise I may have to miss it :( or at the very least ride with someone else. Which would be fun still. Just not the same fun.
