VFD is "Variable Frequency Drive". They are used for 3 phase motors (and RC airplanes) to vary the frequency of the 3 phase power as well as the voltage to change the speed of the motor.

WTF.... I mean I guess it makes sense. They are fairly cheap and very efficient.

According to OVT, 500ftlbs at 3500+ RPM with the PowerMax. So.. unless you plan on racing, revving the engine and dropping the clutch often, the torque will likely be under the 500ftlb limit under normal driving and offroad conditions. I assume the amount of torque applied on the clutch in most driving conditions will be significantly less than the 500 ftlbs but I guess we will know better in a couple months how these clutches hold up.

I plan on upgrading to the URD clutch even with the base kit. Going to do the accumulator delete mod in the next couple of weeks to get a more accurate and predictable clutch engagement

Same here. Looking at it now, it looks suspiciously like an RC ESC for driving motors.... 3 pairs there, it should have clicked in my brain. I've only been sort-of following here for the past coule days though.

    Busy day.
cleaning up our signal processing, and changing some algos.
We have steady and reliable ECU feedback for the pump.
    Red - cranking event
    Green - Truck is running

This is raw data being fed back, calculation of microseconds to complete 1 wave cycle period. This is then internally calculated by the FPC to a duty cycle for the pump.

I know all these little updates don't mean much but this is actually really fun. I'm thinking we will have this wrapped up and dyno'd by the end of the week.

I’m actually loving these updates. I messed with Arduino some in college. Cool to see how this is coming together in terms of the engineering and design of it all

I was explaining the hi/lo pressure thing to a car-nut coworker, then 2hr later another coworker said "Hey, you have a Tacoma right? They have a recall on the fuel pump for 700k vehicles!"

I immediately laughed while thinking about your explanation of the fuel issues and this complex system.

Felt like the twilight zone when I was explaining the complexity and the next day a recall notice is posted

    Powermax dyno is finished.
Will have all the info out soon. I have quite a few things to do first, catch up on some tickets, etc.

Cant wait for twin turbo race Tacomas! (Kinda like this one but, without the NASCAR V8 haha)
